Despite his strong insistence that rock has no place in politics, Cooper is one of just a handful of high-profile musicians who've proclaimed support for Bush. I've liked Alice for over 30 years. And I agree with his message here. And I'm glad he likes President Bush. But ...
I am reminded of the Monty Python skit were the gumby man shouts out, "We should tax people who stand in water!" and then looks down and slowly realizes he is standing in water.

"If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal." Oh man, LOL! *nailed it*

We should shy away from celebrity endorsements. If the married-5-times, hooked-on-cocain crowd is endorsing our opponents that's good.
To: annyokie
I'm not sure that a self-confessed moron is the right person to endorse Bush right now.

This will undoubtedly insult and annoy the music/Hollyweird crowd, they take themselves very seriously.
I like it.

At Night: Alice Cooper, the original madman of rock and roll.
By Day: Vince Furnier, golf-club-swinging Republican.
Ya gotta love it.

Amazing that I had to read this in an Edmonton paper on this forum when I live in Phoenix. The good old Arizona Republic (owned by Gannett) publishes all kinds of stuff about Alice Cooper but not about this (at least that I saw and I read that rag pretty closely). It did, however, give prominent coverage to an anti-Bush concert on September 29 with instructions on how to buy tickets this morning.

Back in the mid 1970's I remember seeing a newspaper photo of Alice Cooper and Richard Nixon golfing together. I just tried to find it on the web to "hot link" here, but can't find it posted anywhere. I thinks its just about as cool as Nixon shaking hands with Elvis and giving him a DEA badge.

The list of pop-culture Republicans includes Britney Spears, Toby Keith...Look, God bless lil' Britney...I hope she gets her life together. And Toby is conservative, but I believe he has even said he's a conservative Democrat. Still, I'd take a Toby Keith/Zell Miller over a Lincoln Chaffee any day of the week.
