**A PROACTIVE IDEA OF WHAT TO DO WITH "UNFIT FOR COMMAND" DUST COVERS**
Free Republic from the mind of AmericanInTokyo ^ | 19 August 2004 | AmericanInTokyo

This great book is hitting the bookstores in force. Folks are no doubt getting their Amazon.com deliveries. The newspapers are beginning to take up the story of the SWIFTVETS.

Here is an idea to get the word out even more at the grassroots level in America. Spread the world about "UNFIT FOR COMMAND" in your own special way!

After getting your copy of UNFIT FOR COMMAND, why not fold the dust cover in half, create a small, transparent pouch of some sort to go on your rear window of your SUV/car or side window, and attach it on the inside of the car, "UNFIT" book cover facing outward toward your fellow commuters?

You will drive in stop-and-go traffic across the land, hopefully in many battleground states, with the book cover just large enough to be showing Kerry's hopelessly botoxed-yet-still-wrinkled face, with the big statement "UNFIT FOR COMMAND".

People, listen up. Our intent is to reach hundreds of thousands of Americans in the middle, Americans not decided yet, who may have heard vagulely about such a book and who normally don't follow news as closely as we do, or have had their news filtered by the mainline media.

This will be the perfect, topical, current and mobile ANTI-KERRY mini poster and PRO-SWIFT VETS book promotional vehicle. It may well also create doubt among the wavering voter. It will certainly cause interest.

Think of the many American motorists who will ponder to themselves:

"Hmm. What's that on that car? Looks like a book cover. Looks like Kerry. It is. Hmmmm. "Unfit...for...Command"...I wonder if that is that book I heard something about? Hmm, maybe I'll have to buy it, too." This is the target.

This will be a quick, simple, THOUGHT-PROVOKING anti-Kerry political message at the grassroots to create even more name identification for this issue and awareness about this great and vital book.

Good idea!

Everyone should go to their local bookstores and complain when as we know will happen, the book will be shelved somewhere in the back of the store if at all.

I like the idea, but the tinting on my windows is so dark that it wouldn't be seen and if I stuck it on the outside, I doubt it would last long.

Ouch! Rather harsh treatment of a soon-to-be-collectible dust cover...

How about PRINTING a full-size copy of the cover, and mounting THAT in your rear or side window?

Some people are making removable bumper stickers and signs, either with magnets, or using some kind of frame. You have to remember to take it off at your destination, to avoide the Dreaded Liberal Car Key.

isnt there a large image to be found on the internet so that Freepers can download it, print it as a 8x11 poster to be used as a bumper sticker?

I think it would be more cost efficient, though we need to have people buy the book.

That works. Of course, at the friendly local Kinkos you could do that for a buck or two using color printer, and of course you could increase it to about 200% in size, to REALLY get the message out. The idea is to be quick, to the point, cause the person to ponder and figure out for himself/herself what it was he saw, and maybe also cause some to go buy the book themself.

I was thinking as a proactive activist starter at least for all the Freepers out there who are getting their copies this week, or have it sitting on their desks right now, to ramp up the coverage and recognition of this book even more so, and fight the damned blackout media! Thanks.

Think of the possibilities. You could also REDUCE them and have many of them in multiples run off on a sheet as 3" X 3" sized stickers, and plaster those in restrooms, messages boards at supermarkets, etc. etc.

For your info: As a part-time booker seller, I would advise you to take off the original dust jacket, and put the book in a generic cellophane or plasticized jacket that can be bought at book or office supply stores, to protect it while reading. Put the original dust jacket in a dirt and smoke free place like a safe. You need to keep it from getting tore, stained and bent. The resale value of the book is much more with the jacket as without it.

HAHAHAHAHA!

I am daring that with a W'04 sign that would be hard to get off. But, what the heck. It's just a dust cover. If someone takes it, they take it. My copy is due on Saturday and I'll give it a try.
