I had the opportunity to release the first commercially released Video Single in America, (Billboard, Variety, 12.11.82) called "The Good You Find In Man", and it spoke about people helping people......
I had to pick up Tina at the airport in Orlando which meant driving down 75 and the turnpike, and this road that is usually empty was flooded with trucks.....I couldn't figure out what was up........
Slowly it began to dawn on me that this was help, on the way to where it was needed.......
There were trucks with hugh generators, and lines of tree maintenance and yard care and trucks with funny license plates all headed south.....
My eyes started to get a little blurry as I realized these were my fellow Americans, and not just Floridians, coming to the aid of their fellow countrymen who needed them......
When we were on our way home, there were still trucks headed south....going to help those who needed it.....not next week, not next month, and not, as Neal pointed out today, to make a buck.......they were coming because there is an inherent good in man......
And if I might be slightly political, that's something GWB and his brother see already......we are a good and compassionate people, we have risked our lives throughout our history to save and assist others
Like it or not, there is a France today because of us. Period. Spelled US(A).....
There is a free Poland and Cech Republic today because of America's willingness to come to the aid of others......
Even their fellow Americans....
We have been Blessed by the Good Lord above, but it wasn't given to us, we earned it, and shed our blood to protect it, and we are still freeing people, and protecting freedom as I write this......
So I say God Bless Americans.....and that's what old Bobby Costas didn't understand when they cheered when the Americans entered the Olympic Stadium.....Half the countries that are there, are there because we are the good and kind, and yes, brave principled folks we are.....

It must suck to be Bob Costas, not understanding the true value of America and what it really means to rest of the world. That man owes us an apology. Our athletes get their shining moment and all he can think to say is some unnecessary liberal drivel that NBC programed into his skull.

Prayers continue to be sent for the folks in FL
We had a summer thunderstorm blow 70 mph straight line winds through our little town. The next morning, the sound of chainsaws filled the air. Neighbors and strangers worked together to cleared downed limbs. Folks checked in on the old folks and put tarps over the roof until the shingles could be replaced. A crowd gathered to comfort the family that barely got out before the lightening strike engulfed the house.
This kind of thing happens all the time in fly-over country with no payment exchanged except a handshake. It just doesn't make the news.
