Artist: Beatles / Album: Past Masters Volume Two /
Song:
Revolution
(Lennon/McCartney)

You say you want a revolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know you can count me out

Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

You say you got a real solution
Well you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait

Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow

Don't you know know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

Seems some of the lyrics were a bit leery of "the cause" back then...no?

Does that mean we can't bash John Lennon any more?

Ah, you fell for the old "real lyrics" trick. Don't you know the real message can only be obtained by playing the song backwards?

Rush used to play a parody to the tune of Imagine. Only it was IMAGINE THERE ARE NO LIBERALS, It's easy if you try...

This is true for the fast (and better known) version of the song. However, if you listen to the slow version on the White Album, you can hear (I think it's) John Lennon singing "In" during the "You can count me out" lyric. I have to say, I think the slow version of the song is superior...

I have thought of this line many times in recent months. : )

"Revolution". Hands down the greatest rock n roll song ever recorded. I love the part at the end of the song ("Alright...Alright..."). Makes me get up and dance around everytime I hear it!

Amazing how often I've felt like...

I don't know how old you are, but I remember that nobody that had a life back then listened to that crap. Hormone driven female teens screamed at their stupid haircuts and pointy shoes, (couldn't have been their music, you couldn't hear it over the screaming), and a few loser guys went along with the program just to be with the screaming dumbass chicks.

Anyone tells me that they were great musicians/songwriters I just say, "Yeah yeah yeah...yeah yeah yeah...yeah yeah yeah...

yeah."

I always thought your bold faced lyrics were the point of the song. You mean to tell me there are people too stupic to notice that?

Like a lady in waiting to a virgin queen,
Look at that stupid girl,
She smiles like a pussy cat,
She doesn't know where she's at,
She's the worst thing in this world
Look at that stupid girl.

One of the three songs of the put down women trilogy, Stupid Girl, Under MY Thumb, and Out of Time written by the Glimmer twins/Nanker Phledge.

I personally liked the Stones over the Beatles.
