Killing the questioner
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | August 1, 2004 | Colin McNickle

A week ago tonight, I asked Teresa Heinz Kerry a simple question here: "What did you mean?" And a wicked firestorm was sparked. Incredibly, most of it was directed against me.

Moments earlier, Mrs. Heinz Kerry had talked of "un-Pennsylvanian and sometimes un-American traits" that supposedly have crept into our political discourse. Her talk before the Pennsylvania delegation was, in part, a plea for a return to civility.

She was not specific. As any journalist would, or should, I sought an example. Instead, I got a finger in the face and was told to "shove it." I have been told worse things by more important people.

We are still waiting too.

I am also waiting for THK's tax returns, for Kerry to release his military records, and for Edwards to explain his $500k tax shelter in the mid-90s.

I have a feeling we'll be waiting on these things for quite some time.

Worth a read. Poor guy. Got out of step with The Pack, asked the wrong question, became an occasion for the mask falling off of Teresa -- and now all his Free Speech fellow-warriors have turned on him.

Too revealing.

You do not question a Queen unless you are not fond of your head.

While Teh-RAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY-ZAH remains a liability to the John-John ticket, she should scare the pants off the rest of us. She has too many similarities to the Hildabeast.

Colin McNickle is the Trib's editorial page editor. Ring him at (412) 320-7836. E-mail him at: cmcnickle@tribweb.com.

I think it's time we email this gentleman to let him know that not EVERYONE is deriding him.

I'm still waiting for the answer to my question of Sunday night last.

I sent this guy an email letting him know I'm still waiting also.

This thing is outrageous!

She says it for the whole world to see and hear, he asked her about it right afterwards, she denies it, and then, just to add insult to injury, tells him to shove it.

Nice lady eh?

After seeing this, I gotta' tell ya', "This lady totally creeps me out, big time!"

As a member of the media I wonder what this reporter thinks about the rest of his comrades deliberately mischaracterizing what was said and by whom?

thanks, eggs! (here's mine)

Dear sir, please know that not EVERYONE is turning against you for "daring to question the queen"! regards,

ps maybe a good follow up would be the release of the queen's tax returns....as in "why haven't they been?" for daring to escape from the herd, you will profit much. this i know.

Maybe you would have better luck asking an American for the meaning of un-American.

Good letter. I forgot to copy mine before I sent it. I hope that the gentleman gets a lot of email support. He's very brave, IMO.

JACK GERMOND??? He's still alive? He was so fat when I saw him at the 1996 Rep. Convention, he couldn't even stand up.

I emailed him too. Scary but has become more and more true.

I wore my Protest Warrior shirt to a Whole Foods store yesterday. Amazingly, one of the employees recognized the logo and said he was glad some conservative people shopped there.

Well, Teresa ought to know. She is flat-out weird.

it disgusting how well lying works. and how difficult lies are to refute. even as it stands, should she ever condesend to address colin's question it will take the form of: the real question is what is wrong with people like you?
