PBS: NOW with Bill Moyers: Moyers and Kevin Phillips theory on Bush's involvement on 9/11
PBS Now with Bill Moyers | 7/24/2004 | Jim Curtis

Read this CAREFULLY.

MOYERS: Let's take a specific that is in the report and sees what it says about accountability. Look at the video of those hijackers going through the security at Dulles Airport. The commission is very specific about this.

Now, the report says that screener, who's not identified by name, should have reconciled or resolved why the detector went off. But the screener never did. It names no name. Surely, though, above the screener was a supervisor. Above the supervisor was a manager. Above the manager was a CEO. Above the CEO was, you know? You never find out who the person was who might have made a difference.

PHILLIPS: Well, the interesting thing there is who was in charge of security at Dulles Airport at that time? Who was in charge of security at the World Trade Center? Who was in charge of security at other airports? Who are they?

I mean, who was supervising these people? Who had the contracts? Were they people who were politically connected? What were they? You don't know. But one of the things that comes to mind, Bill, there were five people in that video. Fifteen of the nineteen participants were Saudis.

I presume probably four or five out of the five in that shot were Saudis. Now one of the questions has been raised, and I think pretty persuasively, is that if there's one group of people that the George W. Bush administration did not want to cause any trouble for, did not want to investigate, wasn't absolutely necessary, was Saudis. The family's been in business with the Saudis for two generations. So what we need to know more about is the whole background from top to bottom of how the Saudis basically walked through Dulles Airport.

MOYERS: Is it possible that we have the most dysfunctional political system since the Articles of Confederation?

PHILLIPS: We can go back a long way. But we have to go back to the Clinton Administration where you had a movie made, WAG THE DOG, and it was perceived describing the foreign policy of the President of the United States who wanted to bomb something that take the public's mind off his girlfriend.

Here are some givens to consider, then you might like to read it again.

It was the hijackers that were pulled aside, not the hijackers that were "allowed to walk through". The hijackers were then allowed to board that plane totally legally. Box cutters weren't illegal and I'll bet you money that Muslims had been instructed for months previously to carry box cutters onto planes always so that it eventually never even raises an eyebrow.

On what basis should the screener have kept the hijackers off the airplane?

Why would Bush have given instructions to let these hijackers on when there was no basis for stopping them from getting on the flight to begin with?

What precisely is being implied with the "Wag the Dog" stuff?

For a guy who is supposed to be smart, that is a remarkably stupid comment. Was this after a two martini lunch?

What a telling--however odd--non-sequitor. Does Moyers believe that constitutional government is dysfunctional? Does he want to restore the Articles of Confederation?

More importantly, has the entire US political left gone insane with rage and hate and spite?

This absolutely unbelievable.
To actually hypothesize that the hijackers got through security and on the planes because of Bush??
To say that somehow this "policy" went down the line so some screener lets a guy through without knowing what set off a detector because Bush said hands off any Saudis?? To couch this slander in some sort of perverse "maybe" scenario is beyond the pale.
This just sickens me. I mean I am absolutely sick to my stomach day after day reading this sort of outrageous tripe.
We are at a critical point in history. This is make-it or break-it time, kids. And yet it goes on and on and on with ANSWER and Moore and the NYT and PBS and all these people given the airtime and the credibility to spout this garbage. And the very sad fact that many many people are too ignorant, misinformed or indoctrinated to discern the facts from the propaganda.
Heaven help us.

He's not smart at all. A number of conservative media cops have been keeping tabs on things he says, and it turns out he's a really stupid man.

I find this extremely fascinating. The 911 commission report claims there were links between Iraq and Al-Quada. But the Dems, correctly, keep stating that the commission had no evidence of Iraqi links to the WTC attack.

So meetings between Iraqis and Al-Quada plus oil-for-food bribery plus Iraqi offers to fund suicide bombers are nothing to be suspicious of. But, according to PBS, we should be suspicious of GW Bush connections to the WTC attack based on some hijackers not being stopped at a security check point.

Dems see more evidence that GW Bush had something to do with the WTC attack than Iraq was a threat to the USA.
