Maryland Throphy Bear Hunt
http://www.MarylandBears.com ^

Posted on 07/25/2004 10:11:43 AM PDT by sussie

Maryland legislature has approved a trophy bear hunt in Alleghy County Maryland in October. The request for a Bear Hunt was promoted by hunters. There are only 300 bears in Maryland. This is an indicriminate killing of bears for 'sport', not the killing or problem bears. There is no provision cubs left orphaned by the killing. Bears are basically shy and avoid humans unless humans move into bear country and leave food out to attract bears. As was done in Yellostone, bears can be trained to stay away from Human food. Please CALL GOV EHRLICH now at 1-800-811-8336 to state your opposition to Bear Hunt and ask him to veto the Bear Hunt What is left of the animals in America should be preserved, not destroyed. While American groups promote the saving of species in other countries, we are killing our own Animals. Maryland should set up a preserve for bears, deer and other animals.

Why is spelling more important than content?

Because spelling words correctly lends credence to the writing. In other words, poorly spelled threads, and your thread is a great example, tend to make the readers think that the writer is either illiterate, ignorant, a troll, a kid playing on a computer, etc. Yes, the occasional typo is forgivable, but a thread with every third word misspelled is not only hard to read, it's also hard to view as credible.

"Bears are basically shy and avoid humans unless humans move into bear country and leave food out to attract bears. As was done in Yellostone, bears can be trained to stay away from Human food"

Appreciate that little bit of propaganda. A male bear is going to mark off a large amount of territory for himself and drive off any other male bear that comes into his territory. This area can be as large as 1,000 acres depending on how much of the local foilage and such it takes to keep a bear alive through the winter. these other bears must go somewhere else or they will be killed.

Come toward wintertime and bears must feed. They go to where the food is. (HINT- you are not at the top of the food chain) When you look at a bear you are looking at your equal on the food chain. Yes they tend to avoid humans because of this but If it's late in the year and food has been scarce you look like a ham sandwich to them.

Are you willing to accept responsibility for damage done when bears become a threat to humans? Are you willing to Accept responsibility when the bear population exceeds the sustainability of it's habitat?

It's an indication of the substance of the content and the intelligence of the poster. Your case proves the point.

Maryland should set up a preserve for bears, deer and other animals.

Okay, we'll put them in your house. All others are fair game ...

First thing Monday I'll call the Governor and voice my support for the hunt. Thanks for the tip!

I believe in hunting bears - I was laughing at the notion that they would be 'trophy' bears.

Or Throphy Bears, for that matter. ;^)

"Maybe soon you will be right and there will be no wild life left except bugs."

What an over wrought reaction to a controlled hunt.

Perhaps you rather find a bear in your back yard or in your garage having just made a meal of your favorite pet or dragging your child off to the woods.

Yeah you're right...the hunt is cruel. /sarcasm

>>I have always been a conservative.<<

Standard Troll opening.

>>Yet when it comes senseless killing of animals for some male gratification, I want to speak out.<<

Standard Troll expression of "compassion." with a peek at the inner Troll (male-bashing feminazi). Moved to outrage.

>>I am shocked at the insensitivety of a freeper.<<

Standard Troll expression of shock and awe that a "fellow" conservative would not do the lefty kumba-ya huggy-bear dance.

But maybe I am wrong.

I think Sussie took a wrong turn on the way to her PETA meeting.

Yeah, lets save those bears, and to heck with the human lives they are endangering. Nice to know some have their priorities in check.

Wow how chauvenistic of you. You're totally ignoring the thousands of female hunters out there in your broad general bash that hunting is a MALE sport.

"Oh Yogi, Mister Ranger's got a gun. And he's aiming it at you!"

"Right you are, Boo-Boo boy! It looks like a Winchester Model 70 to me. And it looks like its loaded with Federal .30-06 rounds with 180-grain Nosler partition bullets!"

"Oh Yogi! He just pulled the trigger!"

"So true, Boo-Boo boy! And here comes the round now - its tumbling. It should tear through my flesh just like a little lead weasel when it reaches me!"

"Bye bye, Yogi!"

"Time to exit stage left, Boo-Boo boy. Its getting dark, and my lifeblood is spewed against the nearest tree like a red paint job. That's the last picnic basket I'll ever steal!"

"I love you, Yogi. I'll never forget ..."

"Control, this is Mister Ranger. Splash two. Repeat, splash two."

What is the source for the bear count of 300 in Maryland? I just don't believe that's true. I'm certain it's far higher.

"Maybe soon you will be right and there will be no wild life left except bugs."

Any tips on how we might kill the little buggies here in Maryland? We seem to have an over abundance of those nasty little critters. I am guessing they are attracted to the scent of liberals.

It is the HUNTERS and other practitioners of the shooting sports who happily and gladly PAY for the restocking, managing of the game species. If you have turkey, deer, bear, ducks and other warm fuzzies in your area that give you the warm fuzzies thank a HUNTER.

Excuse me? Male gratification? I assure you I would find a bear hunt just as gratifying as any man you sexist.
