Washington -- House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi went out on a political limb Thursday, flatly predicting in the face of conventional political wisdom that her Democrats will win back control of the House in the Nov. 2 elections, making her the first female speaker in the country's history.
"We're putting our credibility on the line,'' the House minority leader from San Francisco told reporters at her weekly news conference in her Capitol offices. "I told you we are going to win. I told you that I am going to be speaker.
"If the election were held today, there would be no question but the Democrats would take back the House. We have to be on guard for the venom that the Republicans will pour into the races and, of course, the money that will accompany that. But we're ready to fight," she said.
Pelosi pointed toward the party's strong fund-raising, polls showing more Americans are ready to elect Democrats to Congress and the party's confidence in its presidential nominee, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, as among the reasons she believes the party can pick up the 11 seats it needs to win back the House majority it lost in 1994.
Pelosi's optimism isn't shared by congressional analysts..........(snip)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Seats Democrats view as winnable Here are some of the contests House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi and her colleagues believe they can win as they try to regain a majority in the House.
Texas, 32nd District: Four-term Republican Rep. Pete Sessions faces Democratic Rep. Martin Frost, his state's senior member, in this Dallas-area race in a new district, a majority of which came from Sessions' old area.
Illinois, 8th District: To win, Democrats have to beat longtime Republican Rep. Phil Crane, in his 18th term. Their candidate is business consultant Melissa Bean.
Georgia 12th District: Republican Rep. Max Burns is considered vulnerable. His district went heavily for Al Gore in 2000. (Democrats choose their candidate in a primary next month).
Colorado,7th District: Freshman Republican Rep. Bob Beauprez won by 121 votes. The Democrats think he can be beat by their candidate, Dave Thomas, a county district attorney.
Arizona, 1st District: GOP Rep. Rick Renzi faces Paul Babbitt, brother of former governor and Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt.

Saying and believing it does not make it happen. Credibility is needed and you have none.

Just like poker, it's easy to bet everything when you have nothing..
More like a "tweeter" than a speaker.

"I told you we are going to win. I told you that I am going to be speaker."
Voter fraud plan already in place?
Well let's be honest - the 'before' is really the now and the 'after' is pure fantasy.

She's going to get it chopped off.
"I wonder if her colleagues will re-elect her as minority leader if they find out they were misled," he said. "I have seen nothing from any nonpartisan source to change our opinion'' that the House will remain in GOP hands.
A bit of good news!
"More like a "tweeter" than a speaker."
