"Today is a shameful today. It's shameful for me, for my family and for my company," she said.

No, Martha, breaking the law for an amount of money that to you is totally insignificant ($51,000.00) is shameful. Prison is where criminals go for committing crimes.

I suppose it doesn't matter that she was never charged with insider trading. She was convicted for lying to police.

She was not even under oath.

I wonder how many people have gone to prison for lying while being questioned by police.

She is not going to the slammer for anything to do with the stocks. She is going because she lied to an all powerful government. She wasn't all that thrilled about Imclone anyways. The month before the sale in question, she sold 48,000 shares.

But the problem is, she wasn't convicted for the bad deal. She was convicted for lying to the police during their investigation.

Martha Stewart was convicted for lying to federal investigators and nothing else. Other than that I believe she did nothing wrong. She shouldn't do any jail time and the lesson learned is never cooperate with federal investigators, call your lawyer, take the 5th, and see them in court.

You really didn't pay any attention at all to what she was charged with, nor to her trial, did you?
