My letter:

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that I will no longer be purchasing Slimfast or any other products of your corporate group, such as Lipton Tea, because of the public vulgarity of one of your spokespersons - Whoopi Goldberg. I completely support Ms. Goldberg's right to express her opinions strongly and forcefully, regardless of whether or not I agree with her. So I would not ever boycott a product simply because I don't agree with the personal views of a spokesperson.

However I also feel that it is important that as a society we maintain certain standards of civil discourse, and Ms Goldberg has chosen to disregard those standards. For example I read that Ms. Goldberg recently stated that she "xeroxed a picture of her butt, put a big lipstick mark on it and mailed it to President Bush". That is simply vulgar, and goes well beyond Goldberg's well-deserved right to free speech and public expression. If you choose to suport this type of public behavior than I choose not to support your company.

Again, I want to stress that I don't object to her expressing her beliefs whatever they might be. She has a perfect right to do that. However I am opposed to public vulgarity. Goldberg is a very intelligent woman and she could easily express her opinions in a civil way if she chose to do so.

Yep, its worked for me and my wife. I had more "freepmails" this morning than at any other time, all regarding this subject.

And it occurs to me I have inadvertently slapped "Slimfast"........LOL! That wasn't the intent, btw.

Bottom line is its working for me and mine.

"Glucomannan is better, cheaper and all natural (100% fiber)."

Maybe, I've never heard of it. I just know Cortislim works for me and mine.

"Based on what you posted, I think I am going to give it a try. Wish me luck!! And, I am almost 43. :("

Good luck, hope you get the same results.

As for your age, I turn 46 next month. I love my birthday, btw.

Why? Simple. Consider the only alternative to having a "birthday"....hint: It usually involves a casket....(grin)

So, I love my birthday...what the heck, people give me stuff!

Luzianne is all I keep in the house. (And they are a domestic company, in Louisiana.)

I also called Slim-Fast a few minutes ago and voiced my complaint. They gave me the following number for Unilever Headquarters: 201-567-8000. The receptionist at that number referred me to a consumer service number at 1-800-697-7887.

I used to lust after Luzianne coffee with chicory, for whatever strange reason.

That's good. I wish you continued success with it!
The glucomannan is really good. It's actually the main ingredient in the root of the konjac plant (grown in China) and is all fiber. It actually binds to cholesterol and carries it out of your system much the same way that oatmeal does.Because of its blood-sugar-lowering properties, it's not recommended for people taking diabetic meds. Other than that, it's great. I've taken a lot of different diet drugs in my life and never had anything work like this.

Thanks for the info, and some actually say you don't learn anything on these boards?

Please do not lift the boycott easily. It is time that Slim Fast gives an apology in public and tells everyone that Whoopi does not share the views of this company. This is a needed to set an example to other companies that, regardless of political affiliation, they will be held accountable for the actions of their spokesperson(s).

I doubt it pays much. Did he, by any chance, get convicted for DUI or setting a couch on fire?

I saw a Bob Goldthwaite show where he mentions the couch and having to do PSA's as part of his sentence, just like the Kelsey Grammer.

Whoopi: Say goodbye to those endorsement checks. And let that be a lesson to all celebrity loudmouths. Just because you can read a cue card and no longer have to do any real work, doesn't make you smart. We are the Golden Goose.
George W. Bush will be reelected by a margin of at least ten per cent
