WASHINGTON – Despite increased anti-terror demands, immigration inspectors guarding the nation's borders are laboring under an internal budget crisis that has forced freezes on overtime pay and new hiring – as well as the release of hundreds of illegal immigrants from detention centers.

The funding crisis, which some lawmakers blame on possible financial mismanagement at the Department of Homeland Security, is expected to last at least through the fall, even as DHS warns that al-Qaida is planning another large-scale attack here before the November elections and has ordered airport inspectors to increase scrutiny of Pakistanis and other foreign nationals entering the U.S.

Shows y'all the money has gone *POOF*. I guess they must follow the Bilderberger One World Agenda TM or face the riot act if they do protect the borders.

Apparently they intend to give the expression "money is no object" a whole new meaning. As in the gov is gonna dump a truckload of money into this, then stop, then add a few agents, then stop, then make a few sweeps a little ways in the border, then stop. As if to say the money (MY/YOUR money) is of no value, they are going to $<rew up EVERY thing they do by starting something that MIGHT effect a change and as soon as the money is spent they will stop.

Hidden (or not-so-hidden) agenda?

Indeed, the WOT is not much more than an inside joke; a few buzzwords to keep the sheeple in line.

Why couldn't some citizen taxpayers sue the Dept. Homeland Security and the Attorney General to enforce the laws more strictly. If the enviormentalists can sue to force govt to enforce environmental laws regardless of cost etc..Why can't we sue to force them to prosecute more employers and deport more aliens?

I can tell you first hand there is freeze on overtime pay.

Twice this last week, I pulled two 13 ½ hour days.

DHS wastes millions of dollars on new uniforms, rather than toughen lax immigration laws, wipe out political correctness, and remove red tape when it comes to the search powers of frontline staff.

The dog and pony show continues.

At least the DHS knows where their priorities lie. Screw the average citizen, they are unimportant, but make a supreme effort to secure the political conventions. When does the wake-up call come? After the next attack?

It appears worse than that mere budgetary issue.

All we are hearing from Asa Hutchinson is that the recent 'roundups' are not being stopped by him and the administration and all that is needed is better "coordination with other agencies" and that things will be better "in the future". This is false.

Asa Hutchinson is intentionally trying to fool us. The next terrorist attack on U.S. soil will be blood on the hands of the politically correct panderers to foreign votes. Be prepared for major political change in spite of bin Laden's agenda.

I'm waiting for a real 911 commission after the next death and destruction here to expose this weakness.

Did you mean to say that there is no freeze? Or are you working uncompensated time? If so, that really stinks.

So there's a freeze on the pay, but not on the number of hours worked? Are you expected to work for free?
