Ummm...Read closely and you see that Rush didn't sue anybody, rather it was his producer.

Correct, and it was not a "get rich quick" lawsuit, rather an attempt to prevent another from profiting off his name.

"..or it may just be he didn't want to advertise that he filed suit for divorce."

So he used the Clinton's patented "I can't recall..." ?

If Rush was stumbling a bit, that probably means that this is the last time lawsuit reform will be discussed on the show, unless he brings whatever it is out in the open...

... or it could be simply that he was following Black's orders and not saying any word about any personal legal matters, although if that were true I would expect hem to say that he was not at liberty to discuss any legal matters of a personal nature.
I could respect that, especially in a discussion that had nothing to do with him.

His point was that if Rush had ever sued someone, he had caused that person's insurance to go up, and therefore was part of the problem.

His point was not well-taken. Rush was debating frivolous lawsuits designed to do nothing more than bankrupt a company for personal gain.

There are instances where a lawsuit is necessary and warranted. Rush drew the distinction well.

That said, he did get nailed by the caller in that he was caught off-guard and fumbled around for a minute before recovering.

"I wouldn't call protecting your trademark frivolous!"

Sorry - fogot to quote it - words were from the website, not mine. Is the word "Rush" now trademarked ? Do we have to start putting that little TM after his name and disclose ownership ?

My problem with tort law is that these large corporations aren't being tried by a jury of their peers. They are being tried by a jury of poor people who would love to get their hands on that same fortune. It's unfair at the lowest level.

I heard that phone call and Rush almost played into it until he steered it back to the correct path. However, he should have done it much sooner.

How can anybody not remember if they sued somebody or not?

In all the years I've listened to Rush I would not say that his response was one of his finest moments.

I also heard Rush, so it was not one of his finest moments! What does it matter, when these lunatics since 15+ years are calling him and trying to "gotcha-you"?
Where would the Republican Party be today if you NOT had Rush on the radio every day deflecting the liberals dishonesty and lies?

lawyers... ... like other honorable professionals..   .. change "honorable" to legal?

My lawyer buddy knows all kinds of lawyer jokes and laughs at them, just like me with banjo player jokes.  On the other hand, we need to guard against labeling any kind of necessary work as being unclean.  In Japan and India they have specific social classes to be undertakers, plumbers, garbage collectors, etc. who do 'unclean' work.

I get painted with that brush too because I buy and sell stocks.  Soldiers and sailors get dumped on all the time, until the country gets it's ass in a crack and suddenly the military are heroes again.  When ever some lawyer basher gets sued, he turns right around and (you guessed it) hires a lawyer.  It's time we all admitted that we hire lawyers when we need to.  Rather than be ashamed, let's be thankful that there are lawyers we can hire.

"With punitives the sky is the limit."

I'm with you, Flip, and it sounds like Rush really did blow a real oppportunity to clearify the position of the Republican position.

Not making excuses for Rush, but I did hear him saying earlier today that he was kind of out of sorts, even though he had slept a lot last as per his usual. Maybe he will take the subject up again tomorrow and clear things up.

We all have our off days-why not Rush?

Hey! Rush rocks. I have not problem with Rush.

This topic came up and it's a fact that Rush faltered a bit. Not a big deal. But accurate.

Gads! The man is DEAF! Limbaugh is amazing. So much so that when he stumbles a little it looks like a big deal. Which, once again, this was not.

It does sound like he will take this issue and really go with it, he said it could be a real opportunity to do some educating in this regards. I don't think he was ready for Edwards to be the VP, it caught him by surprise, along w the fact that it bores him, Edwards bores him!! a lot - and he is dreading having to talk about these 2 now for 3-1/2 more months.

He doesn't want to bash all attorneys and trial lawyers either perhaps. They are not all bad maybe?? The liberal attnys ultimate objective is to sue w big payouts so as to destroy capitalism, to dismantle and reign in their socialism and communism and state control. Good rep capitalist attnys I am sure have way different objectives - just good old fashion justice and destroying scum, but not capitalism. In discussing Edwards you are getting into what motivates a person to go into this line of work and so it is not black and white, but gets into whether someone has anti-capitalism at the center of their soul.

It's not all so cut a dry, don't want to throw out baby w bath water regarding trial lawyers.

That doesn't mean they are honerable, just necessary. I dissagree with you, till I meet an honerable lawer.

Why should I stop listen to the #1, representing the conservative causes?
Do you not also have, as we all have, our finest and not the finest moments?
He will still have my ears! He's unquestionable the BEST!

Leftists always resort to ad hominem attacks first, because they're the first to run out of actual facts to debate.

I know that all Lawyers are not trolls who covet other peoples hard earned money. But too many are, and they are staking Kerry and Edward's run for the Whitehouse, in a big way. Their reason for doing so is clear. They want to tort reform proof the Government.

God help us if enough voters are beguiled into putting a pair oe weasels in charge of the chicken house.

The caller was trying to change the context of Maha's brilliant counter-attack.

If someone smears your name in public and you sue them it's a *little* different from wacking your thumb with a hammer and suing the logging industry (handle), the rubber industry (grip), the steel industry (head), and the wire industry (nail).

Do you get it now?
