Says at the end that Farrell is a former Marine. Didn't know that. Anyone else on FR know anything about it? Which unit, where, etc?
I agree. If the troops don't like Rush, he'll be gone. And Farrell also seems to be saying there's a lack of balance, despite the fact that AFRTS offers several hours of NPR!
He was the worst thing that happened to MASH. Terrible actor, extremely stupid human being.
What happened to those detainees is nothing compared to the mental and physical abuse our own troops go through just in training.
Has any anyone here ever been through SERE?
You mean like hacking heads off?
What an astounding idea -- give the military a vote as to who they can listen to on "radio"? That's right.. they can't just turn off the dial, can they. LOL!!! Rush is fine. Most military enjoy him too. Mike Farrell hates conflict -- especially when it concerns what he believe in, personally. He thinks he's pulling his own "I'm not stopping until everyone agrees with me" agenda. I don't think he's realized, he's little to no audience.
IIRC, that is exactly what happened. A few years back, military folks were given a ballot to vote for which programs they wanted to hear. Rush came in among the top vote getting programs, and he was a write-in candidate.
ESPECIALLY since it was the troops themselves that took up a petition in the early 90's to get him on AFRTS in the first place.
Rush is only on for an hour -- as contrasted with the left-wing drivel that permeates the airwaves for the other 23 hours.
But of course Mike Farrell has absolutely no problem with AAFES theaters showing Fahrenheit 9/11 to soldiers in the Iraqi combat zone. Mike, your hypocrisy panties are showing.
Was what he said in the first hour of his show or was it later? For only the first hour of Rush's show is carried on AFRTS. If he said it in a subsequent hour, no soldier overseas heard it.
Should we pull "meet the Press" off of AFRTS televison (AFN and FEN)? Should we pull Doonesbury out of the "Stars and Stripes" newspaper? There's a lot of partisan political speech that soldiers are exposed to.
You're confusing him with Alan Alda.
AbuGhraib was a non-event. Period.
Rush, as usual, was correct, even if his meaning was "over-interpreted."
Just because PC Powell says it, don't make it so. We should be thinking for ourselves, and instead the press and the leftists in government seem to be suceeding in forcing a guilt trip upon even the most conservative among us. Yep, America is Baaad! /sarc
I'm sure our POW-MIA brothers would have loved to endure what we dispensed in AbuGhraib rather than what they, in fact, endured at the hands of leftists such as the communists, the nazis, and the islamonis.
And no, Rush should not be removed from military radio, because the listeners want him.
I'll checkout the AFRTS feeders occasionally (Iceland/FLorida mostly). Except for the Superbowl, I can't say
that anything was worth listening to, in the evening hours that I can receive the signal.
This is a tough one.
Putting panties on their heads vs chopping their heads off.
Yep, I can see where you might be in a dilemma over this.
So your theory is that we shuld chop their heads off because they do it? Or are you advocating them putting panties on their prisoners heads because we do it? Death or deviancy, there is another way, it is called civilized behavior.
If that is your definition of humanenes that is your problem. You seem to seek the lowest denominator, is that the way you wish to be treated?
