Kerry Hides as Americans Fail to Warm to His Style (laziest candidate since Stevenson)

Kerry Hides as Americans Fail to Warm to His Style
Posted July 1, 2004
By Scott Stanley Jr.

Washington insiders are saying that John Kerry is proving to be the laziest presidential candidate since Adlai Stevenson. For three days he has been hiding out at his wife's pickle farm in Pennsylvania without receiving important visitors of any kind, and tomorrow he heads for speeches in Cloquet, Minn., and Boomer, Wis., before stumping in Iowa river towns. Then it's back to one of his wife's mansions for Independence Day, remaining there Monday with nothing scheduled. There is speculation that Kerry will name a vice presidential running mate on Tuesday, but nothing is formally scheduled.

As one political pro put it: "The campaign is apparently operating on the premise that the less the public sees of this guy the better he will do. People just don't like him." Or, as former New York Times editor Howell Raines put it, Kerry has the personality of the Addams Family butler, Lurch, had he gone to Choate.

...the less the public sees of this guy the better he will do.

The perfect campaign slogan...

I keep telling you folks that his prostate cancer has come back. His stamina isn't what it should be. He will put Hillary on his ticket knowing full well if he wins he will not complete his first term. Be afraid, be very afraid.

How do you know that? Is it your guess or is there a source. Thanks.

I think it's his personality disorder that came back. Actually it never left.

I keep telling you folks that his prostate cancer has come back.

That is easily disproved by making his PSA test public. Oh, he hasn't done that....

What is Choate? (And yes, I'm completely aware that I'm currently on the internet - and can look it up for myself...)

Kerry's hiding his running mate since he doesn't want the world to have much time to learn about him/her.

Choate is a very upscale, upper-crust, expensive private prep school for boys.

Paul Tsongas died on 18 January 1997, two days before his term would have been over if he had been elected in 1992.

The comparison to the hapless Stevenson campaign may be quite apt.

Or he may be spending more time, via phone for instance, conferring with others on selecting a VP.

It will be a bad sign if he appoints Hillary! to head his VP selection committee.
