MOORE: 'We sold out in Fayetteville, home of Fort Bragg, We sold out in Army-base towns. We set house records in some of these places. We set single-day records in a number of theaters. We got standing ovations in Greensboro, N.C... The biggest news to me this morning is this is a red-state movie. Republican states are embracing the movie, and it's sold out in Republican strongholds all over the country...
HARVEY WEINSTEIN: 'It's beyond anybody's expectations. I'd have to say the sky's the limit on this movie. Who knows what territory we're in'...

Mikey, I understand perfectly that a little BS is indispensable to promoting a film, but there's a difference between a little BS and an outright lie.

I wouldn't sweat it. The more people see it the more that will realize he only has an agenda.

how many theaters was it showing in at those locations?

I find this pretty hard to believe. I wonder if the distribution of the film in these places was intentionally inhibited, to better manufacture "sold-out" theatres with house records?

LIAR, LIAR PANTS ON FIRE!! THAT FAT S.O.B. is full of sh&t. It's not playing in ANY major theater in Fayetteville or anywhere near it, according to Yahoo. It just might be playing in that artsy fartsy theater at the bottom of the page.

"We got standing ovations in Greensboro, N.C... "
This is hardly news. Anyone who knows anything about Greensboro knows it is a liberal mecca in a sea of conservatism. Home of the civil rights sit-ins and where Jesse Jackson went to school. Home of UNC-Greensboro or UNC-Gay as it is called around here. Home to some of the most liberal minded people in this part of the country.
I'll bet 'ol Mikey is pretty stoked about it selling out in Chapel Hill, too!
Now, IF he sold out in Fayetteville, that MIGHT be a story, but I seriously doubt military families went to see it. If anything, I would bet that liberals from Raleigh and Wilmington made the trek to Fayetteville and "sold out" the theaters there.

The only theatre in Fayetteville showing this is Cameo Art House Theatre, and with only 2 shows (4 and 7 pm). Oddly, the only other movie at this theatre is Super Size Me!!

Michael Moore, American Hatriot, really believes he has made a difference.
Doesn't MATTER what the attendance figures were in the "red states". Some people were just going so they could get and stay energized. For Bush. This crude propaganda piece is as devoid of any factual material as the "autobiography" of the "Former Occupant of the Oval Office, 1993-2001".

I like the boxofficemojo disclaimer at the bottom of their article on the movie:
NOTE: Box Office Mojo asked Michael Moore and company to comment for this story, but they wanted to screen the questions in advance. As policy, Box Office Mojo does not conduct interviews under such circumstances, so there will be no comment from them.
