The Jack Ryan Affair...
Crosswalk,World Net Daily,Illinois Leader ^ | 6.25.2004

Posted on 06/25/2004 7:14:34 AM PDT by KMC1

...The resulting effect has led to a political bloodthirsty moment (as Jill Stanek wrote about) for the ILGOP who hate the conservative wing of their party to begin with and thus the calls of absolute shock and horror over the "lies" and "the way they were decieved". Conservatives are also upset that Jack didn't just take the simple step of revealing to them what was in the allegations from the beginning - so that in the primary voters could make their mind up and decide if they felt the mere allegations were too much to overcome.

All of this brings the concerned voters of Illinois to the decision they have to face today. With the entire Illinois Congressional House delegation calling on Ryan to step down, with the Bloodthirsty Topinka/LaHood wing of the party licking their chops, and even grassroots conservatives desperately disappointed with where this leaves the entire issue - it appears that Ryan may infact step aside.

So the judge can do that in that state,

Just to clarify, it was a California, not an Illinois judge. ". A California judge has decided to make public information the judge calls embarrassing both personally and politically for Ryan." http://abclocal.go.com/wls/news/061704_ns_ryan.html

If they'd keep Obama out of the Senate and vote for Frist, Huzzah!

I'm not from Illinois, but Fitzgerald needs to save Illinois and the nation from this leftist extremist Marxist the Demos. are running, the one with the unpronouncable name.

Fitzgerald didn't save Illinois in the last six years and he won't save it in the next six years either.

And he wouldn't beat Obama in anycase. He was only elected because Carol Mosely Gone was so freakin awful.

This state sucks and the Republican Party here is more than half the problem. Be thankful you don't live here.

There is a war going on for the soul of the Illinois Republican Party. Our last governor, RINO George Ryan has been indicted on a number of corruption charges. George Ryan was a key player in what is known as the "Combine." The Combine is a loose confederation of fatcat Republicans and Democrats centered around Cook County and the Chicago area who tend to scratch each others' back when issues revolving around distribution of governmental power and funding emerge to create opportunities for graft and shady deals. A case in point is Bob Kjellander, Illinois Repulican National Comitteeman. Kjellander has been one of Illinois’ representatives on the Republican National Committee (RNC) for nine years. His charge is assisting the state party with electing Republicans in Illinois and helping the GOP Presidential candidate carry Illinois.

In one glaring case in particular Kjellander earned an $809,000 contingency fee for his efforts to promote Democratic Governor Blagojevich’s $10 billion bond deal at the expense of the Senate Republican caucus, Kjellander chose to subrogate his GOP interests to his personal pocketbook. The Illinois Republican chairman, Judy Barr Topinka would not even publicly announce her support for the incumbent senator Peter Fitzgerald prior to his withdrawing from the Senate race.

All of the Illinois Senate candidates had philosophical outlooks that are anethma to most of the Illinois Republican Party leadership. To a man all of them could be characterized as right of moderate to very conservative. Support for any of them from the combine could be at best characterized as lukewarm, as they wanted the sort of RINO that would continue to further their interests with Mayor Daley's Chicago and the Cook County Democratic apparatus. With one exception (Combiner Andy McKenna) the Republican Senate primary field were outsiders who might not go along to get along.

I believe the primary impetus behind dumping Jack Ryan is so that the Republican combine can get their own guy in. (Andrew McKenna, Jim Edgar, Jim Thompson, or even the awful Corrine Wood) Jack Ryan was just too conservative for their tastes, since he would be likely to retain the bulldog United States Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald who has been indicting and convicting members of the combine right and left.

"There would just be a revolt, there would be an
absolute revolt, if they used this as a pretext to take out
Jack and put in someone who could never win a primary,''
Fitzgerald said. "The Republican base would sit on their
hands in the fall.''

I thought the same thing, until a Freeper gave me more details. This was not some risque show in Las Vagas watching Gypsy Rose Lee and he got randy with his wife. He wanted her to do a group thing at the sex club. I don't know if that rumor but this scandal will sprout wings and get out of control. He's damaged goods. This will not play well in Peoria.

This is the way it is. You will never see the Ted Kennedy, Tom Daschle divorce papers brought out by politicians. The incivility and outrageous behavior of Democrats and the use of liberal courts will backfire on them. The AP lawsuit for GW Bush military records should be followed very quickly by a lawsuit for all of Kerry's divorce and military records. It is now fair game.

Michael Jordan is a Democrat, campaigned for Bradley, has also a marital scandal, was found greatly lacking in skills other than putting a ball into the hoop while with the Wizards.

The Big Scandal here is that Ryan went to a Sex Club with his wife. Who the hell would take their wife to a Sex Club? He didn't get enough of her at home? You go to a Sex Club to get AWAY from your wife. Therefore Ryan showed POOR JUDGEMENT.

Regarding Post #15.

This is directly from the June 18 Chicago Tribune:

"In recent days, Ryan had begun warning leading Republicans that HE EXPECTED EMBARASSING about him would be contained in documents that the judge ordered released, sources close to Ryan's campaign said. Yet, Ryan also said he believed that he could weather any disclosures, the sources said.

Those warnings were in sharp contrast to statements made during his successful Republican primary campaign against seven opponents. Shortly before the March election, when he was asked by reporters whether the GOP should be worried about anything under seal in the divorce file, Ryan replied: "I don't think so. I've been very open about everything that voters could possibly have interest in."

But about six weeks ago, Ryan told a small gathering of leading Republicans that while 95 percent of the contents of the divorce file did not threaten his campaign, the remaining 5 percent could cause problems, according to sources familiar with the meeting.

Instead of placating the GOP leaders, who have expressed continued concern since his primary victory over how the divorce-file issue has dogged his candidacy, the sources said, Ryan's comments raised new questions about the viability of his campaign.

That prompted them to request legal advice from the Republican National Committee about whether the state Republican Party had the authority to replace Ryan on the fall ticket if he was too politically wounded and decided to withdraw. The sources said the national party advised that the state central committee does have the power to fill such a vacancy. Attempts to contact attorneys familiar with the request were unsuccessful.

Earlier this week, Ryan said at a news conference that the release of documents would create "no problems for the campaign. Would there be something that might be embarrassing to me? Maybe. But that's not the criteria by which I'm judging the release of those documents."
(emphasis added)

Ryan had been more than forthcoming. It's a bunch of crap for party leaders to suggest otherwise. They wanted him out and they wanted him out bad. Add a bloodthirsty media to the mix and you've got a candidate who has no chance of winning. I contend that it doesn't even matter who they pick as a replacement. He or she is dead in the water.

It doesn't matter what the scandal was no one and I repeat no one named Ryan will win a state wide election in Illinois.

Former Gov. Jim Ryan has poisoned the political well for the last name Ryan for the next 20 years.

If the guy's last name had been Blutarsky it would have been fine but not Ryan.

Frankly who the hell cares? Its an allegation made in a divorce proceeding... which, are often filled with gross lies, inaccuracies and distortions... In case you missed it Divorces are about making the other side look evil, while you look like a saint and usually bring out the most childish and destructive behaviors of all involved.

I'm sorry guys, I don't care if you are dem or republican, I've seen more than enough divorce cases to know, well over 90% of the allegations in it are absolute crap.

The Ex Wife has run away from the allegations, the husband has denied the allegations and admitted infidelity... the judge sealed these records for the sake of the child... and now, for some unfathonable reason, in spite of both parents saying keep them sealed the same judge has opened them.....

If there is any SCANDAL here its not what these records contain, its the behavior of the judge in question.

All I see is even if 100% of what is claimed is true is a guy who took his wife to some sex clubs and asked her to do things and she said no... big whoop.

A most likely lie made about him by his ex wife during a heated divorce, a wife by the way that has already admitted her infidelity and ran away from the allegations... is not ammunition that can be used against anyone.

You ask me personally if I had a bad divorce if there is anything you should know and my wife allged I was into group sex or other lies I'd say, nothing beyond the normal divorce crap.

I'm sorry, you think divorces are sane reasonable human beings acting like adults? YOu haven't seen many divorces, let alone a hotly contested one. Divorce is about making you look like the victim, while at the same time making your spouse look like the devil incarnate.

This is a non starter. The real scandal is why these records were unsealed to begin with.

Lord knows I for the life of me can't figure out how this is some shocking scandal.

Allegations made in a divorce, which the wife has ran away from, and given what divorces are, 90%+ of allegations in them are just that in my experience, particularly high profile hotly contested ones.

The only scandal I see in all of this, is the Judges actions... the judge seals the records for the sake of the children... now the same judge unseals them even though BOTH parties involved in the civil case argue against it? That is the real scandal here... these records were unsealed purely for political reasons... and that's the scandal here.

Hell even if everything Jeri alleges is true.... last I checked married folk exploring kinky sex sure as hell isn't some sort of scandal in my book. Hell half of suburbia would be in scandal if that's all it took.
