The Jack Ryan Affair...
Crosswalk,World Net Daily,Illinois Leader ^ | 6.25.2004

Posted on 06/25/2004 7:14:34 AM PDT by KMC1

...The resulting effect has led to a political bloodthirsty moment (as Jill Stanek wrote about) for the ILGOP who hate the conservative wing of their party to begin with and thus the calls of absolute shock and horror over the "lies" and "the way they were decieved". Conservatives are also upset that Jack didn't just take the simple step of revealing to them what was in the allegations from the beginning - so that in the primary voters could make their mind up and decide if they felt the mere allegations were too much to overcome.

All of this brings the concerned voters of Illinois to the decision they have to face today. With the entire Illinois Congressional House delegation calling on Ryan to step down, with the Bloodthirsty Topinka/LaHood wing of the party licking their chops, and even grassroots conservatives desperately disappointed with where this leaves the entire issue - it appears that Ryan may infact step aside.

The lie is the scandal, not the act. He shouldn't have taken this page from the Slick Willy playbook.

I agree, the lie is the scandal, but in that regard, why then is the GOP NOT growing some national cahones and going after Kerry - BIG TIME - for his military/medal records, divorce records, financial records?????? And I do mean entire document dumps, not just the DNC approved excerpts, as was the case with the military records????? I understand the difference between "public" and "private" records, but if he has nothing to hide, he should be willing to let the info. out...........after all, Ryan was just running for a Senate seat....Kerry is running for PRESIDENT!!!!!

Well, that I can't tell you, as I have no idea. I can only guess.

I mean is having sex or wanting to have sex with your wife a crime now?

It depends. You'll have to answer if you are a Democrat or a Republican before I can respond accurately.

I am hoping that our strategy is, in fact, to go after Kerry's records. If we don't, I will wonder why not. And now that the AP is going after Bush's military records, why are we not doing the same with Kerry's? Inquiring minds want to know!

I'd still like to know more about that judge and why he did what he did.

I would like to understand how in the world someone can make personal information like that a matter of public record after a marriage goes sour. It is sad that their personal activities become the tools of lawyers, and I have no respect whatsoever for the woman who made this a part of the court records in the first place. I don't really care what his or her sexual proclivities are, it should be private between the two of them, and they should be able to work out ending a marriage without resorting to bringing up someone's perversions in court.

And this, to me, is the saddest commentary of the state of our Nation: that every aspect of our lives is the territory of lawyers who care nothing about people but to make a buck off of their misfortunes. If you ever wonder why the world is a messed up place, lawyers should get a large part of the blame.

So Clinton can bang interns and remain president, but this guy bangs his own wife and is disqualified from being a senator? What the hell is wrong with America? I don't like what Ryan did, but what's with the double-standards our country keeps to. Think of this, Clinton was more popular for being impeached than Bush is for going to war to end a terrorist threat in Iraq.

I expect such good sense from one with Hamilton in his name.
Too bad there is so little of it around here.

No one with Hamilton as part of his screen name could be a RAT unless it is maybe George Hamilton.

Of course those of us with pristine pasts have nothing to fear do we?

Bottom line is the GOP doesn't win this race without the opposition making a serious mistake.

And I don't see that happening.

Umm,,,how is he disqualified? He is withdrawing. He can't be elected. He has no support. Even from his own party.

He was going to lose anyway.

The Republican Party in Illinois is a steaming pile.

If Jeri's tale is true the man is obviously mentally ill. I mean who would want to go to one of these places with a wife that looks like her? Why bother?

This is now a Fox News Alert. Considering the allegations took place over 5 years ago, this is a serious non-story, and should have been treated as such.

Fitgerald doesn't stand a chance against Obama......but former Gov. Jim Edgar would. I say we draft Edgar, although I highly doubt he would accept.

Draft Michael Jordan
-- or, if that fails--
Draft Oprah

Did some liberal highjack your computer? Oprah is about as conservative as Ron Dellums.

"So the judge can do that in that state, without the permission of one or both of the parties?"

- Apparently, the judge ruled that since Ryan was running for political office the records are considered in the public domain. I wonder if the same logic can be used to get the judge to release all of Kerry's Vietnam records, most of which he has so far managed to keep private?

I'm just saying, it's amazing to me how Clinton's popularity grew from a sex scandal, but this guy is hounded out of the nomination because of it. Clinton wasn't disqualified from the presidency, but this guy is disqualified from running for the Senate? The double-standard kills me. It shows the degree to which Clinton bewitched this nation.

Do I prefer that the GOP rid itself of its scoundrels rather than circle the wagons around them to protect them like the Democratic mafia did during impeachment? Absolutely. It shows we have integrity. Is it better Ryan step aside? Yes, I think so. But how was it the nation let Clinton get away with his sexual shenannigans but everyone else gets nailed for them? (No pun intended.)

Anyway, it will be interesting to see who takes his place. Frankly I wish Fitzgerald would just reconsider resigning. I'm not from Illinois, but Fitzgerald needs to save Illinois and the nation from this leftist extremist Marxist the Demos. are running, the one with the unpronouncable name.
