Rush Says 9/11 Commission Member DID Find Iraq/AQ Connections
June 16, 2004 | Vanity

Posted on 06/17/2004 9:13:56 AM PDT by Peach

Rush just said that one of the 9/11 Commission Hearing members has written the media complaining that they have taken ONE line out of context.

They HAVE found Iraq/AQ connections, but haven't found that Iraq was involved in 9/11. Even though they were't charged WITH even looking at that.

And Bush has never claimed that Iraq was behind 9/11.

Rush also assured us that others are gearing up to counter the leftist lies.

MORE ON THE 9/11 COMMISSION: Staffer Jonathan Stull emails:

I'd recommend that you look directly at Staff Statement No. 15 when discussing the Iraq-al Qaeda issue, specifically regarding the Commissions' hearing today. Note that the paragraph in question is on page 5 of the attached statement. I'd point out that it is but one paragraph in a 12-page statement. The AP and others have picked up on one sentence, which was carefully worded: "We have no credible evidence that Iraq and al Qaeda cooperated on attacks against the United States."

The rest of the paragraph concisely summarizes the cases where we can identify cooperation and other connections where they exist.

The other relevant information is included on page 8 of Staff Statement No. 16. In the statement, which exhaustively discusses the 9-11 plot, we address the movements of the hijackers in the years leading up to the attacks. This paragraph addresses reports that Mohammed Atta met with an Iraqi intelligence agency in Prague on April 9, 2001.

While some have criticized the questioning during public hearings, I have seen few quibbles with our staff statements. I urge you to look over all of the statements.

Me to. Hehehe.

The leftists don't like to let the facts get in the way of their opinions, but at least we have satisfaction of knowing that THEY KNOW in their heart of hearts that there is information out there which PROVES them wrong.

In other words, the story is another movement of the goalposts... previously the Leftist line was "no Iraq/AQ connection". Now it's "no Iraq/9-11 connection".

Frontline had a program on Iraqi terror training. They mentioned Hamas, AQ, Arifat's group, and a few others. Why do people put this information on shows then ignore it?

Rush also said something that was pretty close to what I wrote to someone earlier this morning on private freepmail, to wit:

I wrote: "I suspect the DemocRATS are laying the groundwork with this Iraqi prison scandal to try and start impeachment proceedings against Bush when he is re-elected.

I think we should head them off at the pass by exposing what we think their intentions are ahead of time. We can frame their intent as being no different than what they always do when they don't like the opinions of the majority of the people in this country. They try to go around them with the activist judges they have installed for just that purpose."

I heard something interesting this morning: "The 9/11 Commission was intended to find the holes in our defenses that allowed the 9/11 attack and to make recommendations in their report on how best to defend against another attack and how to respond better if one does occur... The 9/11 Commission was not intended to find all the Saddam/Osama connections or Saddam involvement in 9/11...Who cares about 'out there' when it comes to our home defenses and responses 'right here'?"

It (the connection) was the "conventional wisdom" for years until defeating Bush became priority one.

That the Republicans are not out there COUNTERING these lies ticks me off to no end.

That Rush said there is an effort behind the scenes which will do just that has given me SOME hope (but not much).

Time and time again I've seen the Republicans sit on their hands and let the Democrats have their talking points which the press dutifully records.

Then they need to send out a press release to this effect.

Bing! You win! And knowing that the Leftist morons only seem to exercise their ability to reason during each new cycle, I'm sure their efforts will pay off.

As with all propagandists, they understand that the best defense is a good offense. Instead of addressing their previous assertions, they merely assert something else when what they've previously said turns out not to be true.

In all fairness, how does that differ from the shift in focus from WMD "stockpiles" to WMD "programs"?

It was great hearing President Bush answer that media hack. Anyone know who asked the stupid question and got an answer he surely didn't want!
