Isn't she a Democrat? Looks like some others could take a lesson here.

She is a Democrat. She also refused to attend commencement ceremonies last month at LSU when President Bush spoke. This may be a bit of damage control.

Did a little more research on her. She is a devout Catholic who opposes affirmative action, abortion, gun control and higher taxes according to the Washington Post.

Will the LA state offices be closed?

Must say Oklahoma's Democrat governor, Brad Henry, stepped up right away and ordered everything closed on Friday.

If only the state capitol would be closed EVERY Friday... THAT would be a great tribute!

BTW, I'm waiting for someone on the left to complain about the Republicans shutting down the government again...

My money's on Maxine Waters or Shiela Jackson Lee.

She is a dem but dems in Louisiana are alot like pubs except remember, she is in favor of expanding school for little teeny kids, is a supporter of the teacher's union, loves welfare, Louisiana loves welfare since Huey Long. She is a snake in my opinion.

Plus, and I can't believe I missed this, it is a good opportunity for a party and gumbo and Louisianians love parties and gumbo more than they love welfare. And remember, she and Mary Landrieu are closer than twins. They are endlessly plotting.

This is all well and good. But got to wondering if the $3,700,000.00 in the Louisiana Purchase agreement ever got to those U.S. citizens which were supposed to receive it or not. Would like any one to educate me on this.
Thanks, Ahavat-chofshee = (Hebrew for) lover of freedom!

I was disappointed at the behavior of both Gov. Blanco and Bobby Simpson (mayor of Baton Rouge) during Pres. Bush's visit to Baton Rouge; neither greeted him at the airport or went to hear him speak at LSU's commencement. Disgraceful.

FWIW, Blanco is as dumb as a post.

She is a southern democrat and at least here when a person dies most people will show their respect for the dead. It is a manners thing, not a policy thing I would say.

Virginia's RAT governor declared a "Day of Remembrance" but offices remain open.

At the risk of sounding like a "newbie" freeper (which I am), what in the round world does BTTT mean?!?

Yes, Blanco is a Democrat, and she is supporting Kerry. While that, in itself, is lamentable, we can still give her credit for an eloquent tribute to The Gipper via the proclamation.
