Speech begins at 8:00 P.M. EDT; carried on MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, and CSPAN.
And we all hate him.
YES, see Pukin Dog's comment somewhere back up there.
After the speech, Savage said that "he almost went to sleep" on the President's speech, lamenting the "lack of fire" in GWB's voice.
Well, Savage for a reason, perhaps if you didn't jump off the wagon so much, the lack of carbs and alcohol might make you more alert. Another thing--SCREAMING doesn't make you more believable or persuasive. Were that the case, Sam Kinison would have been president...or Chris Rock.
Actually, what I have read is that the turnover will be more cosmetic than substantive. Maybe that is wrong but I doubt it. I think the big turnover, is when the place has elections next January.
See a separate FR post for the entire text: Text of President Bush's speech Monday night at the U.S. Army War College.
"Military action is necessary to defeat serious and immediate threats to our national security," Mr. Lugar said. "But the war on terrorism will not be won through attrition, particularly since military action will often breed more terrorists and more resentment of the United States."
In the interview, when asked if Mr. Bush was properly handling the troubles in Iraq, Mr. Lugar replied, "I don't know."
Just like ted kenedy's speeches were for the enemies of the USA rather than the USA. (or pelosi's tratorous comments)
See #707!
Yes, alas that does not provide us with a concrete plan of action. The Lugar whine is "inactionable," in short.
You are so right, but the campaign folks ought to be ready to use tidbits from this speech in campaign ads in about 90 days -- it's that good. They have got to ratchet up the heat, since they must overcome the innate bias of the press and TV media that puts President Bush 50 yards behind at the start of the 100-yard dash!
GRRRRRRRR!
I hearby order head enemas for all U.S. and foreign media types.
Do they still have that good frozen custard place by the Dickinson College stadium? Fantastic.
On a serious note. Are there different specialties covered at Carlisle vs Leavenworth? Being a Navy type, I didn't know Carlisle existed until yesterday...
Wow Proud!! I live for the day I can see our great president in person!!
Audience was very pumped...and very excited about the speecha fd the President visiting. In spite of what you might gather by listening to some of the old retired generals trying to sell books, the military loves this man...and it is obvious he feels the same way.
Pukin, I gotta ask...would your source know how they will deal with whatever government Ibrahim (or whatever...the UN guys) announces...couldn't the UN get back in by having him choose a gov't to the UN's liking...?
Thanks. I was getting confused because I didn't understand all that I knew about the speech.
They will be a fully sovereign nation. This was a big point for the Iraqis, and it is not cosmetic.
See post #1086 for a sampling of Senator Lugars words of wisdom. Evidently, according to the good Senator, killing jihadists is the root cause of jihadism. Another effin lunatic.
If the Iraqi people don't start fighting for their own freedom we should get the hell out of there.
