I think MY title is more apropos, don't you?
He had his 15 minutes in 1972, I believe...
Really guys, stop trying to explain all this away as stupidity. Hunter S. Thompson probably knows what he's saying is absurd but he's pissed about some other pet peeve like the U.S not being communist yet, he believes the U.S populace is stupid enough (especially the Junkies who know who he is ) to take him seriously and is willing to say whatever it takes to make GW loose the next election.
He must mean these photos.
It's a shame to see talent run to seed the way Hunter S. Thompson's has. His "gonzo journalism" from 30 years back was razor-sharp and spellbinding, even when its premises were outrageous.
Now he's become a drug-addled shadow of what he once was.
P.J. O'Rourke
This is just sad. I love a lot of his work. Especially Fear and Loathing. If these folks would stick to their talents and stay out of politics, my entertainment expenditures so much easier to decide on.
Did he happen to be accompanied by a 300 lb. Samaon on the edge of the desert near Barstow when this revelation hit him?
The ultimate "libertarian"? Surely you jest. The man has been a strong Democrat for years, having hailed Jimmy Carter as a sort of Superman when he was the candidate in 1976. The "gonzo" stuff is all a cloak; underneath it all, Thompson is a very traditional liberal Democrat.
Whoa man, that shot of the dude that had the electrodes attached to his gonads freaked me out man. Where is my hash pipe, I need a hit in a flash.
There are many in this country who still have a head-on and cannot get a grip. Eternally high, yet clueless. So much for that mind expanding experience.
But who in your measly little world, (-uh)
Are you tryin to prove to that youre
Made out of gold and-uh, cant be sold
I might be jaded, but hearing this from Hunter S. Thompson doesn't really upset me - it's probably the Crystal Meth talking. The fact that I hear much the same from people who allegedly have two ounces of brains to rub together does upset me.
Rush Limbaugh was right - like the states on the 2000 election map we now have two media in our country, the Red Media and the Blue Media, and the latter are the propaganda arm of the entrenched statist hierarchy. They will say and do anything to win, and their attitude towards America is "If we can't have it, no-one will."
Things are going to get worse before they get better.
A liberal Democrat pretending to lead a libertarian lifestyle. Given the lp's stance on the war on terror I don't see much difference.
Well, well ... that's two of us.
Actually I try not to know who many people are, and in this case I appear to have made the right choice.
And as far as the "prisoner pictures" go? There shouldn't have been any. I'm truly sorry we got caught. End of story.
Now get over it Hunter S. Thompson, who ever you are. We've got some killing to do.
I believe Hunter S. Thompson like Rush Limbaugh is a <>recovering addict. And in his work Mr. Thompson uses a great deal a sarcasm to get his point across.
Ok everyone. Take it easy on Hunter. His brain is pickled from drugs. He is one of the greatest proponents of the 2nd amendment in this country. He lives on a ranch in colarado and has a history of intimidating reporters by taking them out back of his place and shooting high powered pistols and rifles in front of them while guzzling hard liqour. I don't agree with this opinion, but at least he has some saving graces.
well, we knew he was a fool, now he's proven he's an asshole, too...
So right! He's a cultural artifact, a total redundancy. He's always mewling about the "nazis" in the White House, it is so trite and unoriginal. Sad to see someone who was such an innovator turn into a cliche.
Wonderful! He's a heavily armed, drunken lefty.
This is supposed to make me feel better?
