Radio Host Who Allegedly Threatened Bush, Rumsfeld Incensed By 'Vicious, Hateful Lying Web Sites' By Jimmy Moore Talon News May 24, 2004

SEATTLE, WA (Talon News) -- In an expletive-filled response to a Talon News story from last week where a listener accused him of making death threats against President George W. Bush and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, liberal Seattle radio talk show host Mike Webb declared his innocence and decried "lies told by right wing web sites."

Talon News reported last week (see earlier story) that a listener to The Mike Webb Show, which airs from 10:00 p.m.-1 a.m. on 710 AM KIRO in Seattle, Washington, said that Webb had "called for the death of President Bush and Secretary Rumsfeld for 'war crimes.'"

Admitting that he received many "e-mails and phone calls from very angry listeners" who claimed he was "calling for the death of the president," Webb told Talon News last week that these listeners simply misunderstood what he said and that it is "absolutely not true" that he called for Bush to be put to death.

In response to the Talon News story written about his on-air comments, Webb expressed his displeasure with the way the story was reported.

"Wow. What a motherf***er you are," Webb declared in an e-mail to a Talon News reporter.

He added that Talon News was guilty of "completely mischaracterizing what [he] said."

Lamenting that Talon News did not accurately portray what he meant by his comments about Bush and Rumsfeld, Webb revealed that the telephone number provided by 710AM KIRO station manager in the original story actually belonged to another radio station.

"I think it's funny as hell that my boss gave you another company's phone number," Webb exclaimed.

He continued, "Thanks for the ratings, though!"

In a "letter to the editor" regarding the Talon News story, Webb said the "amusingly hysterical" story about him was "completely overblown and out of context."

"I would never call for the death of anyone, let alone the president," Webb wrote. "I simply reviewed the War Crimes Act of '96 in conjunction with Sy Hirsh's New Yorker piece and the Newsweek expose of a memo warning Bush in 2002 about adhering to the Geneva Conventions."

In the previous story, Talon News did not accuse Webb of making death threat statements, but rather reported that he was accused of making them by one of his listeners.

Webb said he has been bombarded by "every nutcase and his grandmother" since the Talon News story ran.

"I stand by my words: No death threat, just a sensible review of the facts surrounding culpability during wartime," Webb contended.

Webb continued his rant about Talon News on his show's weblog. Interestingly, he removed the show topic list for last Tuesday and replaced it with content devoted almost exclusively to the Talon News story written about him.

"Talon News [is] proof positive that we are overwhelmed by vicious and hateful lying websites that mascquerade [sic] as truth-tellers," Webb wrote in a journal entry on his weblog.

In yet another attack against Talon News and other Internet news web sites, Webb said he will "always discourage using the Internet as your only resource for truth."

Instead, Webb tells his listeners to check multiple sources for news and "draw your own conclusions."

"That's how responsible talk radio works and that's why we perform as the number one radio show in the Pacific Northwest at night," Webb boasted.

Returning to his direct criticism of the Talon News story, Webb exclaimed that it was "absolutely irresponsible and fictitious."

"[R]eading Talon, you would think I was endorsing murder," Webb expressed. "It's beyond reproach for any American -- any human being to invent such garbage just to get attention."

Accusing Talon News of relying too heavily on a single source for its story, Webb said most of the story was simply made up.

"Not once did I call for anyone's death," Webb declared. "And yet this irresponsible 'reporter' completely lied about it, depending only on one phone call from a disgruntled listener."

Yet, much of the information reported in the original Talon News story came from Webb himself and an anonymous listener.

The anonymous listener wrote back to Talon News on Friday to challenge Webb's denial by saying that he heard Webb say verbatim, "George W. Bush and Donald Rumsfeld should be put to death for war crimes under the laws of the Geneva convention."

The listener, who said he was concerned that Webb would "retaliate" against him if his identity were to be revealed, said the Secret Service was "interested in what Webb said" and will be keeping a file on him with comments from other concerned listeners of The Mike Webb Show.

Interestingly, the listener said that Webb freely admits on his show that he carries a gun around with him "for protection."

Talon News was also contacted by a source in the radio industry in Seattle who has been seriously concerned about Webb and other liberal radio talk show hosts threatening the President.

"This is not the first time Webb has threatened Bush with violence on the air," remarked the radio industry individual, who asked to remain anonymous, to Talon News.

He said that calling KIRO station manager Ken Berry is useless because he "is an ultraliberal from San Francisco who protects the lefty hosts and makes life miserable" for everyone else.

Instead, he encourages people to contact Entercom Communications Seattle Market Manager Kevin McCarthy at 206-726-7000 or KIRO General Manager Dave Pridemore.

"Please help, we must do something about [Webb] before he convinces one of his listeners to act out violently," the radio industry individual pleaded.

Another listener to Webb's radio show said a talk show host named Mike Seigel was previously fired for making controversial comments about the Seattle mayor.

"If Mike Seigel was fired for that, surely [Webb] should be fired for allowing threats against our president go over the air," the listener concluded.

Finally, another listener to Webb's radio show said he listens to Webb's show "to see what the other side is peddling."

"Before the Iraq campaign, [Webb] actually said that he didn't feel bad for any troops killed or wounded in battle as they were volunteers and not draftees," the listener told Talon News.

Because of the voluminous feedback he received to the Talon News story written about him, Webb devoted the entire first hour of his show on Friday night to "exposing the lies told by right wing websites."

Questioning the "credibility" of Talon News, Webb said he had "deep disappointment about personal ethics."

He charged that Talon News "used shock tactics presumably to get hits" on its web site.

On top of this controversy, Webb is in the midst of some legal issues, apparently of his own making.

According to the Seattle Weekly, Webb is pursuing criminal charges against a Seattle police officer who allegedly assaulted him during the late night hours on May 16 while he was standing in line for food at a fast food restaurant.

Webb demands the officer be fired and pay a fine and requests an apology from the city of Seattle.

The Office of Professional Accountability in Seattle is investigating these charges brought by Webb, said Seattle Police spokesman Sean Whitcomb to the Seattle Weekly.

The alleged assault happened when Webb was waiting in line behind the Seattle police officer.

Webb reportedly inquired to a police officer about standing in line waiting to order when the officer asked Webb to leave. When Webb refused, the officer allegedly pushed Webb out of the restaurant.

Complaining of shoulder pain inflicted by a "rookie, rogue cop," Webb said he immediately called 911 for help. But Webb claims the operator made him call another number for assistance.

Meanwhile another police officer approached Webb and allegedly threatened him with further bodily harm if he tried to call anyone else.

Webb told the Seattle Weekly that when he identified himself as a radio talk show host with KIRO, the police fled the scene.

Webb said he is now scared of what the police officer might do to him if he sees him again.

Many listeners to Webb's show have inquired about how to report comments made by Webb to the appropriate authorities.

To contact the Secret Service, you may call 202-406-5708 or fill out their contact form.

The Federal Communications Commission can be reached at 888-TELL-FCC (888-835-5322) or by e-mail at fccinfo@fcc.gov.

A copy of the audio of Webb's show can be obtained through Tempo IV, Inc. by calling 425-825-5544 or visiting their web site.

Arm yourselves. If Bush wins reelection, all hell might break loose and the left will try and do anything to destroy his last term and anything he seeks to do. Count on it.

Webb said he is now scared of what the police officer might do to him if he sees him again.

Mr. Webb sounded earlier pretty tough, especially about our Armed Forces personnel. Here we see him for what he is: a case of crocodile mouth, hummingbird ass.

Perhaps he will pull that gun he carries on the officer and a radio host job will become vacant.

Arm yourselves

Literally, the left has always been fond of one-way rail stations and tall smoke stacks.

Webb reportedly inquired to a police officer about standing in line waiting to order when the officer asked Webb to leave. When Webb refused, the officer allegedly pushed Webb out of the restaurant.

I bet it was more like this:

- Webb, tapping cop on shoulder...

Webb: Hey pig, why are you waiting in line, when you should be out stopping crime? Huh?

Cop: Sir, maybe it's best that you leave.

Webb: Do you know who I am, you F***ing pig? Huh? Huh? I can break your career in a heartbeat. I have the most-listened to show in the northwest - at night. Don't F**k with me, pig.

- Sounds of scuffle as Webb is forcibly escorted outside

Cop: Now, there's no one else around. You were saying...?

Webb: (Looking around nervously) Ummm... If you touch me, I'll go on the air and you'll be in trouble.

Cop: (Laughing) Yeah. That's what I thought. All mouth. (Second cop shows up)

Second cop: Whatcha got, partner?

Cop: Just some dumbass who thinks he's a lefty Rush Limbaugh

Second Cop: Should we kick his ass, and say he resisted arrest?

Cop: Nah. We know where he is every night, right? (both cops start laughing, as they begin to leave)

Webb: Sniffle... sob... (Load drops in pants)

Webb: (Notices cops are gone, yelling)Yeah! That's what I thought, tough guys! I'm a TALK SHOW HOST YOU FASCISTS!!

Don't be fooled by those on the left. They are armed. Look how many of them don't want you and me to have concealed carry permits, yet THEY HAVE THEM. Blabbermouth leftist Finestein in California rants about guns and SHE has a carry permit. The Hollyweird elites all have them. Sean Penn has an Amory in his truck it seems from recent events. I bet even fatass pig scumbucket Moore has one if you searched his house.

Don't forget their dream gun collection, the US Government. They've invested their entire existence to gain control of all phases of government, the only true power of which is by gunpoint.

What fries me about this stuff is that if Joe Sixpak said something like this in front of a secret service guy, he'd be in the hole so quick, it'd make your head spin. But some media yokel just gets away with it.

Methinks he doth protest too much...

I confess I have never listened to him, because (a) I have better things to do between 10 and 1, and (b) I don't listen to liberal rantings and I certainly don't feel inclined to start. I can't even watch Hannity and Colmes anymore.

The extreme left at DU for the most part has already decided that if President Bush wins, it will be because he stole it again. They've talked of getting violent if it happens. I doubt they'd do it as most of 'em are nothing but whiners (you can tell by the pity me stories - all talk and no action that resulted in their problems to begin with). But, some are unstable enough they might try.
