Suspicious device found on America West plane in Phoenix
(Phoenix-AP) -- An America West Airlines flight from Phoenix to Reagan National in Washington was aborted today after a passenger spotted a suspicious device in a seat-back.
Sky Harbor airport spokeswoman Deborah Ostreicher says it turns out it was an M-P-Three player, used to play music, and it had been wrapped around a soda can.
It was found in a seat-back by a passenger as Flight 44 was taxiing out to the runway for takeoff.
But before it was determined what had been found, the pilot taxied to the airport's cargo area, where the 117 passengers and five crew members got off and were bused to a terminal.
A police bomb squad was then called in to check the plane.
All of the luggage also was taken off the plane and being checked.
I was trying to figure out how you could wrap a MP3 player around a soda can, and realized they probably meant the player was attached to an arm band which was in turn wrapped around the can.
Grrrr...sloppy reporters....
With all these mysterious objects being found all over the place in different airports, I cant help but feel that something fishy is going on. Sept,11 2004 isnt that far away and I wonder if terrorists are "feeling out" our security.... Or I could be wrong and its all just a fluke, but there sure have been a frequent amount of flukes lately.
I was about to say, did some bodybuilder get so cheesed off at his iPod's batteries running out that he bent it around a Coke can?
Sloppy reporting, indeed.

This could be act of Airline Piracy!
Thank god it wasn't something really horrifying, like a toenail clipper or fingernail file.
Y'know, I'm not too bright. If I'd found that thing in the seat, I'd just say, "Sweet, a free MP3 player!" :)
