Michael Smerconish | BUSH DIDN'T KILL NICK
(Philly) The Daily News ^ | May 17, 2004 | Michael Smerconish

Posted on 05/17/2004 4:23:41 AM PDT by brityank

THIS ISN'T going to be easy. But some things need to be said to Michael Berg even as he grieves the loss of his son.

      ````` snip `````
But...
George Bush did not kill your son. Nor did Donald Rumsfeld. And, quite frankly, you are the one politicizing his death when you introduce their names into the same breath as his obituary.
Furthermore, it's just not accurate for you to say "Nicholas Berg died for the sins of George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld." Your son died due to the sins of unholy people acting through some misguided and irrational vision of their faith. And, frankly, you give your son's murderers the credibility they so desperately lack when you say otherwise.
      ````` snip `````

The America that all of us grew up in no longer exists. But that is not attributable to the Patriot Act, nor any other effort to combat the lawlessness that changed the world on 9/11. You are blaming D-Day for the attack on Pearl Harbor. If you wish blame someone or some group for the disappearance of your America, may I suggest you start with al Qaeda?

Nick Berg didn't die because librarians are at risk under the Patriot Act. He didn't die because he was sent to war by the president and secretary of defense. He didn't die because of the absence of negotiations. He died because some sick SOB with an insatiable hatred for all that is good and decent in this world took his life. The sooner all Americans unite against our common enemy, the sooner we will return to the America in which we were all reared.

Thanks for posting this.

I heard Smerconish talking about the Brookings Institute Iraq Index for Tracking Reconstruction and Security in Post-Saddam Iraq. Overall, the data pointed towards positive developments that the U.S. media is not reporting.

Here is a link to a PDF for those interested: IRAQ INDEX

I hope some family or friends passes this on to Mr. Berg, with our deepest condolences. They should also remind him he should not allow himself to be a prop for the Kerry campaign.

I have a question for Michael Berg ... why does he trust known terrorists then he does his own country?

Don't you know that the Socialist liberals of the United States, to quote former US Ambassador Jean Kirkpatrick, "always blame America first."?

This is definitely a good editorial. I can't see how anyone blames anyone besides Al-Qaeda.

Free, Hell we could probably get up enough money for a one way ticket to Iraq or Iran.

Yeah, like Alec Baldwin was going to leave the country if Bush got elected. They're not going anywhere because they couldn't run their mouths in any other nation like they can in the good ol' USA.

I put Mr Berg in the same category as the "9-11 Families". They use their loved ones death to promote their socialist agendas. It's sickening.

I am very happy to listen to "The big talker" every day. Mike, Glenn, Rush, and Sean keep me entertained and informed all day.

Reminds me of what somebody living under Communist regime might think. I suppose in his own mind, Berg is. But the Nick Berg story is all but forgotten by the media today anyway, as we knew it would be.

Michael Berg's contention that the murderers, who sawed off his son's head, 'might be as bad as George Bush' was just disgusting. He has his head shoved so far up his butt over his politics that even the horrendous death of his own son cannot keep him from seeing a political angle.

Along with Al Quaeda, Michael Berg needs to blame his own son for his death. If I see a sign on a fence that says [Guard Dogs On Duty] & I choose to go in anyway, are the dogs totally to blame for my death?
