Witnesses Testify to Seeing McVeigh

McALESTER, Okla. - Moments before a bomb destroyed the Oklahoma City federal building, Rodney Johnson turned the steering wheel of his catering truck to avoid two men hurrying from the building. One was Timothy McVeigh (news - web sites).

AFP Slideshow: Oklahoma City Bombing

Johnson identified McVeigh during questioning Thursday at the state murder trial of bombing conspirator Terry Nichols. His testimony is part of a defense strategy to suggest that McVeigh received substantial help from other conspirators.

Johnson told jurors that he almost ran over McVeigh and the other man just before the April 19, 1995, blast that killed 168 people.

"They were clearly together," Johnson said. "I thought they would stop. They didn't. They continued at a very rapid, quick pace."

The book The Third Terrorist explains who John Doe #2 is, how many people saw him get out of the Ryder trucks minutes before the explosion.

AND, John Doe #2, who is id'd in the book, was working at Logan International Airport on 9/11 as a food handler.

Very interesting article and I am amazed that there still remain unanswered questions about the bombing.

IMHO US was to quick to execute McVeigh.

It was impossible for the truck bomb to have brought the building down. An ANFO bomb used by the military is called a cratering charge. That is because it is a very low explosive that blow's down and out causing a crater and clears an area.
The official estimate power of the truck bomb was 4800 pounds. Eight 55 gallon barrels were used. that would make each barrel equal to 600 lbs. The truck was parked 20 feet from the building. When the truck blew up the power from it went everywhere like a big ball. Let's say the truck has six sides. Front, back, left ; right side and the top and bottom. That would result to only 800 pounds of explosive energy going in each direction. That is only one and a third barrel of explosive energy directed toward the building. Only enough to blow out some glass but hardly enough to blow up a building. There were others involved.

It appears that the Clinton Administration was never interested in finding out the truth about OKC or Pan Am Flight 800. ( Clinton wouldn't know the truth anyway if it bit him in his big fat butt. )

The truth would've shown a much wider conspiracy involving Middle Eastern terrorists. Clinton didn't want to deal with those issues. They raise too many sticky issues, especially for liberals. It was much easier to sweep them under the rug. After all, he had to acquaint Interns with the inner workings of the White House!

I thought the same thing. I was glad at the time that we weren't looking at years of appeals by McVeigh but was surprised by how quickly the execution went through. I always thought there was more to be learned if they could break his stonewalling. Maybe a set of head panties would have sped things up.

Definitely. It wasn't just John Doe #2 either.

RE: "Very interesting article and I am amazed that there still remain unanswered questions about the bombing."

It took years of enduring abuse, ridicule, and threats before citizens got their government to look at Ruby Ridge and Waco. It's worse today because the stakes are higher.

It's taken nine years for one of our government entities to allow citizen eyewitnesses to testify at a trial of McVeigh or Nichols. These are ordinary people who were going about their lives that morning. They were not allowed to testify at McVeigh's trial because they saw the other men with McVeigh.

Former CIA Director James Woolsey is just one of hundreds of thousands (millions?) who is not "amazed that there still remain unanswered questions about the bombing." To wit,

"When the full stories of these two incidents (1993 WTC Center bombing and 1995 Oklahoma City bombing) are finally told, those who permitted the investigations to stop short will owe big explanations to these two brave women (Middle East expert Laurie Mylroie and journalist Jayna Davis). And the nation will owe them a debt of gratitude." -- Former CIA Director James Woolsey, "The Iraq Connection", Wall Street Journal, September 5, 2002

No doubt one who will have a lot of 'splainin' to do is Ms Gorelick.

There was no need to "break" McVeigh IMO -- just finish the investigation given what was known then and what people like Ms Davis have discovered since.

They have never answered the question of the leg in a boot. There was a leg in a cammie trouser, bloused in a military boot. The authorities have never answered the question who was this.

I agree that others were involved. The ANFO bomb as you cited would have blown out equally but the damaged did not reflect that. I remember seeing pictures of concrete reinforced pillars sheared off inside the Murrah building. Something is truly amiss and they wanted the sight cleaned up and McVeigh dead right now. Sanitization by the slick one himself.

Why?

The fedscum blew up the OKC fed bldg!

All they have to do is fess up to it, but then they can't stomp all over the freedoms that We used to have.

Welcome to the new police state U.S.A.

Not to mention the comparision to the fed bldg vs the buildings on the other side of the street.

I won't even get into the cutter charges that failed to detonate on the coloumns in the fed bldg, or the warnings to the Bad Attitude Towards Freedom crew to not come to work that morning.

I suspect McVeigh went to his death believing he took down the building and killed all those people.
He never figured out he was merely a Patsy.

You say Clinton, but McVeigh's execution was rushed by Attorney General Ashcroft (remember all of those missing documents, and how McVeigh's team was given a week or so to review them?), and to my knowledge, the Bush Administration never has reopened the investigation of Pan Am Flight 800.

If the drums were surrounded by heavy material like sacks of Barium Sulfate with only the direction of the desired blast not covered it would have the effect of directing most of the energy in the desired direction. I have no idea if this was done and it would have taken several tons of weighting material to achieve this effect.

The government needs to come clean on this, once and for all. It is obvious that we have as yet an incomplete picture. Keeping the truth hidden for too long only engenders mistrust.
