Hockey Pro Charged With Trying to Hire Hit Man Issues Statement Denouncing Family

The Associated Press

May 8, 2004

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Blues pro hockey player arrested on federal murder-for-hire charges claims in his first public statement that he was emotionally and physically abused during his childhood, a newspaper reported Saturday. Mike Danton called the St. Louis Post-Dispatch from jail Friday night and read a statement that focused on his relationship with his estranged parents, outlining allegations of "constant physical and emotional abuse" and saying he was raised in squalid conditions.

His parents and family friends have disputed those accusations but his agent, Dave Frost, and best friends have made similar statements.

At a detention hearing Friday, federal prosecutors said Danton had plotted for at least six months to kill Frost and tried at least three times to hire a hit man. Frost has consistently denied that Danton wanted him killed.

Danton did not address the charges Friday night or answer any questions. He said he was feeling "OK, under the circumstances, you know."

His attorney, Robert Haar, said he was unaware that his client was going to issue the statement.

Danton's mother, brother and aunt were in the courthouse for Friday's hearing he did not acknowledge them.

Danton, who grew up Mike Jefferson but legally changed his name two years ago, thanked Frost, his friends and the St. Louis Blues organization and players in his statement, and then criticized his family.

"Their deceptions and lies throughout the past three weeks are a sign of the erratic lifestyle that I have lived. I have changed my last name to fully distance myself from the Jeffersons and in no means have had or will have anything to do with them in the future," he said.

The statement was read to Danton's father, Stephen Jefferson.

"I'm really hurt by it. His mother will be floored," Jefferson said.

"It hurts the family to hear that type of nonsense from him, but it just shows how badly Mike needs help," Jefferson said.

Danton said he wrote the statement, but Frost phoned the Post-Dispatch to arrange Danton's call.

Danton was arrested April 16 in San Jose, Calif., a day after the San Jose Sharks knocked the Blues out of the NHL playoffs. He and an alleged accomplice are charged with plotting a murder for hire.

Why is the agent he tried to kill defending him?

I think it's like that beaten housewife syndrome, except here it's the beaten hockey pro sports agent version...

because they were lovers. I only saw that reported when the story first broke. They tend to avoid it in subsequent stories. Perhaps a little political correctness.

Nothing like a mentally ill homosexual lashing out to condemn his parents, family, friends and others while he is the only person to blame for his vile behavior/actions.

That makes a little more sense. When there's no rational explanation, it must be political correctness (or Islamists trying to take over the world again)

...and saying he was raised in squalid conditions.

That's just hysterical coming from a hockey player.

It seems obvious that Jefferson-Danton is a weak-minded individual and somebody has exercised an effective form of mind-control over him. He's an emotional hostage who cannot think for himself.

The question is whether he is the captive of his parents or the captive of Dave Frost. Frost will tell you it's the former. His parents say it's the latter. I don't know enough to know who is telling the truth but I'm inclined to think it is the parents.

ESPN did a story a week or so ago about this and the way the parents talked about Frost was just frightening for any parent to live through.

The difficult part is that the youth hockey system in Canada takes many teenaged boys away from their parents and there have been several stoies surface that the hockey "stewards" in charge of these young boys are an easy opening for pedophiles who prey on the weak, such as this Jefferson-Danton kid. Frost was one such individual who not only began contolling Mike but also tried to control his younger brother, at least to hear Jefferson's parents tell it.

Homosexuals in general are extremely angry people. They constantly are having to lash out at others, blaming them for the unhappiness always welling up inside their hearts. In order to continue on their path of deviance/open rebellion against God, they have to turn the blame outward instead of inward. If they start seeing the truth - that they are headed down the wrong path, that their actions are against the laws of nature (whose author is God), then they have to change their whole lives.

Since God is in everyone's heart, always giving us guidance (which we only hear if we want to), they have to shut Him up and shout Him down, as well as shut up and shout down any who speak God's truth. It is shameful that the lies of the homosexuals have been so accepted culturally. It is a sign of terrible cultural psychosis and evil.

I came to the conclusion that to be a homosexual you first have to kill your identity, ie... man loves woman. It really is a psycological problem and they are not born homo.

I understand "Wheezy" was particulary tough on him.

Definitely a psychological problem. Then, when they act on it, promote it, and start abusing others, it becomes criminal.

A large percentage of homosexuals, both male and female, were sexually abused as children and adolescents. Many come from seriously screwed up families. Add to that the indoctrination and seduction in schools and media, and voila! "Gay Pride" parades.

Not that everyone who was molested or had a bad family background becomes homosexual. But such difficulties are hard to overcome, and if a teenager or young person has homosexual thoughts, by hearing and seeing the same acted out everywhere and counselled in schools that because they had one "gay" thought or desire, they are now "gay" forever and can't change, they have little hope or incentive to change or become normal.

It's interesting that the homosexuals and their minions hate that truth the most - that homosexuals CAN change. That's like a silver stake and cross to a vampire. It takes their very foundation of being a so-called "minority" away from them. Homosexuality is a set of behaviors occasioned by certain mental and emotional dysfunction. Change or take away the behavior, and there is no homosexuality. It's like I used to be an alcoholic, now I'm not. People can and do change, and to take the knowledge away from people to keep them enchained in the dark is very evil.

Yep, most do have bad childhoods or some tramatic event that scarred them. Abusive parents try to make you hate yourself and if they succeed the person is ruined.

A decent orphange run by honest, kindly people would do a lot better job at raising human beings than some of these drug addicted crazy people that aren't fit to be parents of the children they pop out.

It was that old man Bunker and his creepy son-in-law that abused him and that's why the Jeffersons moved on up to a deluxe apartment over on the East side where he finally got a piece of the pie.
