PHONY IRAQI ABUSE OUTRAGE SYNDROME

WHEN GOOD NEWS COMES OUT BAD

Happy Cinco de Drinko everybody!

There's is so much good news in the paper lately. Only problem is it's presented as bad.

The latest trick of the left, which proved incredibly effective last decade in helping Rodney King become a WMD, is to work up a lot of phony outrage at Iraqi prisoners being tortured and abused by our military.

"Iraqi Prisoner Urinated On!" And the problem is..? It's the least we can do, really. OK, you're in the Twin Towers on 9/11/01. What would you choose? Someone flying a packed airliner into your head or getting peed upon in the lobby? Thought so. To the anti-US news reporters the only American allowed to pee on others is R Kelly. The only outrageous thing to me is that the soldiers did not shout, "That's for Tillman and Pearl" while they were emptying their bladders on the kindly shepherds.

Yes, I know. Even Rumsfeld and Bush are outraged. What do you expect them to say? "Well, the White House believes that pissing on a guy has it's merits?" Don't they already have their hands full trying to explain to the mentally disabled of the print media the basic concepts of right vs. wrong and self-defense?

It's sad that the news media treats Michael Jackson better than our military. And it's sad that some people are eager to prosecute any of our military as war criminals before Saddam Hussein answers to his evil.

Abuse is necessary for the survival of a free state. These "prisoners" have another name. Enemy combatants. We are fighting dirty people who see Geneva Conventional warfare as old school. "Yo my sand nigga. That's a bunch of Babylonia. Knowwhatitisthatiamsayingtoyoumyfriend?"

As I said last year on the air to much hootery and derision, the eggshells upon which President Bush must walk to fight this war will continue to cause needless death. Lob a nuke and see what happens. It worked for the Japs. They sure as hell calmed down and concentrated on electronics and sushi.

Everytime we conquer a land everyone wins. When we fought Germany did anyone think it would yield some of the kinkiest porn America has ever seen? Tons of Jews driving Mercedes?

We whipped Russia's ass, everybody loves vodka now...more so than Raymond. It's even flavored for the 'tweens.

Britain and Canada...America's twin sons. We steal all their comedians and TV shows and make them better..Tom Green being the exception.

The South is in much better shape than the North these days. NASCAR is huge everywhere. We even succeed when we kick our own ass! That's how great this country is.

So before we weaken ourselves even further in the eyes of the Arab world by holding congressional hearings on the wedgie, let's make examples of the soldiers who have bravely farted in the face of evil by giving them medals that they can bring back home so John Kerry can toss them over a fence.

TOMORROW: MORE GOOD NEWS DISGUISED AS BAD

This story is truly upsetting...Mike is disgusted and can't fathom how all of this could happen.....where was the chain of command?..he feels they have disgraced the uniform he so proudly wears and doesn't want to hear their excuses.

In the service, it is a fact of life that ANY offense comitted by someone else wearing a uniform rubs off a little on all of us. Once the pictures hit the news, few people out in the world make distictions between Guardsmen and Active, or between services. That's why we're taught from the first DAY to conduct ourselves appropriately.

We all are taught that bad conduct on the part of only ONE brings dishonor and disgrace on not only the rest of us, but also on our country, which besides defending, we also represent to the world.

My mind boggles when I think about what they might've done in their civilian lives.

IIRC, one of these turds is a corrections officer in Virginia.

How much do you want to bet that a bunch of lawyers are walking through every prison the TIQ (turd in question) worked at and asking every inmate, "Did this guy do anything to you?"

The Virginia Department of Corrections is probably saying, "Ah, s**t" right now.

After I read the report, I felt ill. I want these clowns to get, at a minimum, 20 years confinement at hard labor.

I'm ex-navy so don't preach to the choir. I'm all too familiar with the "You're ambassadors of the US" speeches. We got it at every port of call overseas. And you know what? Somebody almost always "blew it". No big deal. The whole ship wasn't to blame and it wasn't implied that the rest of us were to blame! That particular sailor got his 45/45 1/2 for 2, not the whole ship!
We didn't get the prisoners speech that current guys get. Maybe 'cause we weren't at war then. Well, Grenada, but that wasn't "war".
It's easy to understand the "ex" part. I don't, and won't, accept the responsibility for others actions implied or otherwise.
You want to have the guilt trip then you accept it. That little game wasn't for me then and isn't for me now.
If it bugs you that badly then get out! Whatever you do though, quit trying to tell me that I have to share anybody's "shame".

And as for all of this "torture"...a bunch of damn polywogs! We went through similar things to become Shellbacks though, I must admit, we never had to take our clothes off until it was time to wash all of the garbage off of us and to discard the clothes that were pretty much ruined.
I've still got scars on my knees, though faint now, from the non-skid on the flight deck.
According to your reply 60, isn't that a form of "torture" too?
Are you a polywog? If you are, don't worry, if you go through the ceremony you'll survive. You survived SERE so Shellback initiation should be a walk for you.

Thank you, Long Cut, for your post #60, and Eaker, for pinging me, and Meg, for your concern in seeing that as many Freepers as possible read the comments that started with Long Cut's #60.

On today's Finest, JohnHuang2's Two Cents also deals with this subject - I posted a link to this thread there, and wanted to link his essay here. It's worth your time to read his take on this as well.

I don't know about you but I expect more of your soldiers than I do of some college kid. I don't know if you were ever in the military (not that it matters) but we were told about the Geneva Convention. I was a Security Policeman and we received ongoing training about how to handle prisoners and what these people did was not what we were taught.
My point is while this is not the end of the world as we know it (see and of the "mainstream media", BUT we can't go to the opposite extreem and make light of it. Make no mistake this is bad, these idiots handed our enemies a real gift.

I don't know if you were ever in the military (not that it matters) but we were told about the Geneva Convention.

You were lied to then. The convention states that if "one of the Powers" engaged in a war is not a party to the convention, others in the war who are "parties" to the convention "remain bound by it in their mutual relations"--but not bound to it in relation to the non-party unless "the latter accepts and applies the provisions thereof." Saddam Hussein and certainly the non-combatants have not accepted and applied the provisions of the convention therefore we are not bound by it in regards to them.

I'm not a Shell, but the rituals as you remember them are now indeed banned as HAZING by the Navy, because some yahoos didn't know when to stop. It spiraled into abuse, as such things always seem to do.

As for torture, go to this thread, and read the Pentagon's official report. This went WAY beyond mere "pranks". Until you do that, I would ask you to please hold your opinions in check. You do not have all the facts.

If you still think "it was no big deal", then we have nothing further to discuss.

Thank you for your perspective, Long Cut. The U. S. Military has my continued support despite the abhorrent behavior of these individuals.

Who the he** released these pictures?
Since when is taking pictures on the same level of abuse as Sodom and his sons inflicted?

Screams for an apology from the arab world, who apologized for 9/11?

Who apologized for dragging bodies of U.S. troops through the street?

This young trooper just decided to do this on her own?

Put in true prospective, we owe nobody an apology for any treatment of these prisoners. Yes, prisoners. All suspected of causing insurgency against the U.S soldiers.
