It wouldn't suprise my if they found a city there but, it won't be Atlantis.

Wouldn't the Holy Grail of archaeology be to find the actual Holy Grail?

Hehe. On another note, maybe I'm not picturing this right, but it doesn't seem to me that there'd be much excitement in finding the remnants of a city that crumbled 6000 meters into the ocean after a stupendous earthquake. We wouldn't be talking about temple columns and marble statues here - more like temple pebbles and marble dust...
I guess there might be some neat metal artifacts though.

Maybe they should look for it where the sources say it is, rather than in the completely wrong direction?

If all goes well well be bringing you good news about the greatest archaeological discovery in human history in the near future and we will inaugurate the dawn of a new era of knowledge for human kind. I am personally holding out for the archaeological discovery of Noah's Ark on Mt. Ararat this summer. Now that would be a find.

Unless it says NOAH on the side of it and there's a lot of animal feces around, you'll have a tough time convincing me, but archaeology is FUN!!

Interesting story. I remember there was a lady,2-3 years ago working on photographing a submerged city about 4000 feet deep off the southeast coast of Cuba who had the backing of National Geographic. I wonder whatever happened there?

Wouldn't the Holy Grail of archaeology be to find the actual Holy Grail?LOL! Good point :) Actually I think Indiana Jones already did that, and it turns out you can't take the Grail past the seal or else there's an earthquake which buries the Grail and also causes George Lucas to take two decades to make the next sequel.

The energy release to drop something that far that fast would leave no recognizable anything or, for that matter, human survivors within a thousand or more miles of the place.
