April 19 Morning Edition on NPR, the MRC's Ken Shepherd accessed the audio file on the NPR Web site and painstakingly transcribed the entire story. To listen to the story via either RealPlayer or Windows Media Player, go to:
http://www.npr.org/rundowns/segment.php?wfId=1842206
That comment was a runner-up in the "I'm a Compassionate Liberal But I Wish You Were All Dead Award (for media hatred of conservatives)" category in MRC's 1999 "DisHonors Awards" for the most outrageous quotes of the decade. To view a RealPlayer clip of Totenberg in action: http://www.mediaresearch.org/notablequotables/dishonor1999/welcomeaward6.asp
Then last October she seemingly desired to hasten the death of Army General Jerry Boykin for having supposedly expressed the view that the war on terrorism "is a Christian crusade against Muslims." Totenberg hatefully advocated: "I hope he's not long for this world." When the other panelists on Inside Washington were taken aback by her wish ("You putting a hit out on this guy or what?" and, "What is this, the Sopranos?"), she quickly backtracked: "In his job, in his job, in his job, please, please, in his job." See: http://www.mediaresearch.org/cyberalerts/2003/cyb20031020.asp#1
For RealPlayer video of that exchange: http://www.mediaresearch.org/notablequotables/bestof/2003/best1-3.asp
That quote was a runner-up in the MRC's "Best Notable Quotables of 2003: The Sixteenth Annual Awards for the Year's Worst Reporting."
And for examples of media figures blaming conservatives and talk radio hosts for the Oklahoma City bombing, see our 1995 "Special Purveyors of Hate & Division" issue of Notable Quotables: http://www.mediaresearch.org/notablequotables/1995/nq19950508.asp
I have cut the body of the story leaving the transcript. Visit the http://www.mediaresearch.org/cyberalerts/2004/cyb20040421.asp for full text.

We know we are getting to them about removing Gore-lick when they use these tactics against us (old and worn out tactics, by the way).
Keep up the e-mails to the 9-11 commission and to the Jersey girls.

Your screen name is the most perfect for posting this article. Truth Decay, indeed.
These people make my stomach hurt.

Hate the FBI, and the second thing they did was CALL THE FBI when they got these alleged death threats! Funny how they have no use for anything until it is against them personally, then they want the 101st Abn Div to protect their sorry asses.

Let me get this straight:
NPR makes some mindless connection to Rush Limbaugh and a generic phone threat . . . but when Alex Baldwin on a nationwide talk show makes a specific threat to stone Henry Hyde, his kids and grandkids then, well, that's just old Alex and his 'personal opinion.'
I'm better now . . I just had to write it out and read it so I now realize I'm the crazy one.
Hey everyone . . . . thanks for listening!

These folks continue to be 'their own worst enemy'. Only a Liberal will go this far. Stop the death threats, Jamie. . .and just resign.
In the meantime, she and the gang at NPR should be sued.

Forgot to ask; since emails can be traced. . .what is happening with Gorelicks claims?
Surely you cannot make such a serious charge without more to backup than face value e-mails from your computer.

These people just can't stand it that we can see through them via talk radio. Thank goodness. These bottom feeders must be exposed for who they are!

Jamie Gorelick, 9/11 Commission member: "Someone called the house and threatened to blow it up, and blow me up."
You know, Jamie, if this story were actually true, you could call the FBI and they could trace the call. If the call was placed from anything other than a pay phone, they could catch the person making the terroristic threats against you.
Of course, since it didnt happen, dont bother.

This tactic is so shallow. "Someone" calls in a bomb threat, and now Gorelick claims she cannot step down from the commission because it would be kowtowing to the person(s) making the threat ("I don't think the Commission should be intimidated. Then it would be a mistake for any one of us to be forced off the Commission. I think it would be terrible.")
It will undoubtedly work, defusing calls to get her to step down for legitimate reasons.
How pathetic she, and the rest of the Clintonistas are.

GORELICK HERSELF wrote in the memo that her policy went beyond what was required by law and a court ruling! She's spinning.
Also, she works for a law firm which is defending a Saudi against lawsuits from 9/11 survivors and families.
Also, she WORKED WITH AND FOR Richard Clarke on the Cyberterror Taskforce yet didn't recuse herself.
SHE MUST RESIGN!

Nina Totenberg is, of course, an incompetent reporter and a political bigot. In short, she's not very different from 99.44% of the staff of the
New York Times. To that extent and because of the First Amendment, I have no quarrel with the lady's work.
However, since she works for National "People's" Radio, her salary is paid, in part, by my tax dollars. So at that point I DO have a quarrel with the lady's work.
And as for the separation between law enforcement (FBI) and national security (CIA), a competent reporter would know that it dates back to 1947 when the CIA was created. With the lesson of the German Gestapo clearly in mind, Congress deliberately chose NOT to create a new organization that could go anywhere and do anything in the name of national security.
Of course, the Gorelick memo itself makes it clear that Totenberg is a dishonest reporter. This report claims that Gorelick was creating a "bridge" that would cure this problem, as opposed to a higher "wall" that would make it worst. The text that Gorelick wrote made it clear that it created a "greater" barrier than what the law required.
I spit on Gorelick, Totenberg and NPR -- figuratively, of course.

Jamie Gorelick is on the 9/11 Commission for the sole purpose of cleaning up the Clinton record on terrorism and making sure that Bush gets the blame, not for the benefit of John Kerry, but for the benfit of Hillary. My guess is that Gorelick is Hillary's plant.
