Alright, test time for all you Bush-bashers out there. There is a quote supporting President Bush and his war on terror that the Bush-haters are not going to like but definitely need to hear. The test is simple and easy. All those bashing President Bush simply read the quote and take a guess who said it. Simple and straightforward, but a warning for any Bush-bashers reading this quote. This may cause rage, anger, and fits of ranting and raving from those who so detest Bush and his war against terrorists.
So here it is, the quote which just might open the eyes of al least a few Bush-bashers. But I think it's very important that the Bush administration do what they're doing to keep the soldiers over there to keep chasing him. But I know - like I said - I know it might be frustrating to you. But it's still better for bin Laden to worry every day more about whether he's going to see the sun come up in the morning than whether he's going to drop a bomb, another bomb somewhere in the U.S. or in Europe or on some other innocent civilians.
Now who could have uttered such words? What right-wing war-monger is responsible for such angry and rash support for the war on terror that the Bush-bashers are so dead set against? Got a guess yet? Try President Bill Clinton. Yes President Bill Clinton made these remarks in a speech on February 15, 2002.
For all those who have taken great pleasure in criticizing the president on his so-called obsession with Iraq, and his inability to forecast the attacks on September, 11 2001 these words have to be unpleasant. This is their hero, Bill Clinton, supporting the actions of President Bush after 9-11. Also of note is that nowhere in this speech does President Clinton find fault with Bushs handling of terrorism prior to 9-11 either.
Lately, of course, President Bush has become a target for folks who claim he should have known about the terrorist attacks on 9-11. There are even those who go so far as to make the assertion that Bush did know before September, 11 and did nothing to prevent the attacks.
These attacks are based not on facts or hard evidence than they are on partisan politics and a deep desire to defeat Bush in November at any cost. Some more words from Bill Clintons speech should be considered by those so quick to accuse Bush of not doing enough to prevent the terror attacks on 9-11.
Now, if you look back - in the hindsight of history, everybody's got 20/20 vision - the real issue is should we have attacked the al-Qaeda network in 1999 or in 2000 in Afghanistan. How does that settle with the Bush-bashers? President Clinton not asking should Bush have done more prior to September, 11, but asking if he himself should have gone after al-Qaeda and the Taliban prior to September, 11.
Talk about a complete and utter refutation of the Bush-bashers assertions about Bush and his alleged failings in dealing with terrorism. But what about the much publicized claims of the Bush-bashers that the failure to capture Osama bin Laden equals a failure for the entire war on terror?
Well Mr. Clinton also made some remarks on this subject which will not set well with the Bush-bashers. Consider these words from Clintons speech. Speaking about Bushs decision to go after bin Laden and the Taliban Clinton made the following remarks. I agreed with what he did. They basically decided - this may be frustrating to you now that we don't have bin Laden. But the president had to decide after Sept. 11, which am I going to do first? Just go after bin Laden or get rid of the Taliban? He decided to get rid of the Taliban. I personally agree with that decision, even though it may or may not have delayed the capture of bin Laden.
Well those words take the steam out of the pathetic why havent we gotten Osama yet cries from the Bush-bashers dont they? Naturally you are not likely to hear these excerpts from the Clinton speech on the mainstream media and certainly not on the Liberals Air America radio talk-shows anytime soon. You will not hear John lets run to the United Nations for help Kerry talking much about these remarks either.
Here though, in this column, the truth will not be hidden or censored. So while the Bush-bashers who are reading this are hyperventilating and cursing me for daring to expose the lies they tell, let me utter some words I thought I would never say. Thank you President Clinton for speaking the truth and defending the actions of President Bush. Thank you for articulating why he was right, why he did the right thing, and why we should continue to fight the battle he alone had the guts to wage.
