To: finnman69
Dunno. But Japanese Leaders are standing firm on NOT withdrawing troops.

Correction. Name is TAKATO not TAKAHASHI. Was going on earlier Japanese news reports. Female's last name is "Takato". At any rate, I am suspicious of motives here.

Top headline from major Japanese newspaper just now: "Japan's Decision to Support US Troops in Iraq Shaken With Adbduction of Japanese". Now they are going to start in with it. Sheesh.

I was thinking more of Robert Downey JR. in 'Natural Born Killers'.

Have you noticed that the Japanese prime minister does not seem to care if Mr. Imai will be made into shi'ite barbeque. He has no intention of pulling Japanese troops out of Iraq and another 1,200 are due to be deployed in a few weeks.

That scene came to my mind as well, I just couldn't place it.

Be drinking buddies with jihadis, get taken hostage. I imagine they will be crying, "But will we were only trying to help" just before their throats are cut.
To: AmericanInTokyo
Hmmm.

"But will we were only trying to help"Yikes...I don't know where that "will" came from.
To: eddie willers
Wasn't Daniel Pearl also trying to write a positive piece on the terrorists before HIS throat was cut?

Agreed. The first footage I saw was quite suspicious. Looked like this bunch wasn't very upset at all to be "kidnapped" by murderous fanatics. Seemed kind of staged. So, I am not at all surprised by this news. I just hope that the next laser guided bomb can be used to "release" them.

He could be using one of those pencil things, holding it in his mouth, pecking at the keyboard.... maybe?

Ditto...great find, by the way.

It's from Yahoo. It's a bodice-ripper headline. Japan and Korea both have had some major "anti-American" protests in the last few weeks. I doubt Japan will withdraw troops. Unless, perhaps, China begins apply their nasty pressure, again. (They aren't having much success in re Taiwan.) Squeeze plays are going on all over. Thank YOU very much for finding the data on the hostages; and posting here. Japan cannot afford to withdraw their troops; given US/Japan trade relations, currently. IMHO. I knew as soon as that idiot mother from Alameda, CA went over to "visit" her son serving in Iraq -- it was just the beginning of "other anti-war" waves. And in re Dems and their polluted air in re "Tet" "Viet Nam" -- obviously they are SOMEHOW aware that squeeze plays were (are) being set IN ADVANCE OF OPERATION VIGILANT RESOLVE.

No! No one was writing positive pieces on terrorists then. It was only months after 9-11.
