U.S. Senator George Allen (R-Va.) tonight accused fellow Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) of hurting the morale of soldiers and encouraging those targeting Americans in Iraq with remarks Kennedy made yesterday that the Iraq war was becoming President Bush's Vietnam.
While Allen recognized Kennedy's right to speak, he came very close to using words that would describe Kennedy's criticisms as treasonous.
Allen made his comments at tonight's Black America's Political Action Committee's tenth anniversary dinner held in Washington, D.C.
Kennedy was accused by Allen of harming the morale of soldiers fighting in Iraq, their families back home and of giving encouragement to the enemy in a time of war with his scathing critique of President Bush's handling of the war on terror made at the Brookings Institution yesterday where he called the Iraq war "Bush's Vietnam."
Kennedy, who has been campaigning for fellow Massuchusetts Senator John Kerry's (D) presidential bid, is widely seen as a stand-in for the nasty political attacks traditionally relegated to vice presidential nominees until one is chosen by Kerry.
Secretary of State Colin Powell also rebuked Kennedy for his remarks today, but used much more diplomatic language.

Hopefully C-SPAN will rebroadcast the BAMPAC dinner later. George Allen was a brawler with the Democrats when he was governor of Virginia. I'm glad he denounced Kennedy in the strong language he used tonight.

They are intentionally undermining our efforts in Iraq and putting our men in harms way.
Ted Kennedy is a traitor and this country will be a better place when he is no longer with us.

Lecherous Kennedy will have to answer for what he says. We will stay to the time table - there will be elections in Iraq - and I just hope that, at that time, someone holds Kennedy accountable.

Each day I fully expect to hear/read about Ted tripping out. He is a candidate for the Loon Pond if there ever was one. My doesn't he speak well for the voters of Mass.
Wonder if he is still "interning" the interns?

I could not agree more with George Allen. This is a religious war. Radical Islam against the Western World(infidels). Simple as that. I don't thank the majority of people realize yet what is going on. This badmouthing of the West has been going on for quite awhile with these Mullahs. This talk by Kennedy and the democRATS is not helping things in the least. Parley

Gosh didn't Kerry do the same thing?

I watched some of that tonight. He was spot on. This is the message that needs to get out there, said by anybody who has an audience.

It is about time someone put Kennedy in his place. I wish there were more senators who would add to what Allen had to say.

While Allen recognized Kennedy's right to speak, he came very close to using words that would describe Kennedy's criticisms as treasonous. He's absolutely right. I read that even Powell said today that Kennedy's comments were way out of line.
I think they're beyond that, and I think he should be censured in the Senate.

This is exactly the way to fight the Democrats. Too bad it is so infrequent. We need more Senators like Allen.

The Democrats and media are behaving like wild animals backed into a corner. Hopefully we can finally put them out of their misery in November.
