"We grieve today for the loss of our colleagues and we pray for their families. The names of the victims will not be released out of respect for their families.

"The graphic images of the unprovoked attack and subsequent heinous mistreatment of our friends exhibits the extraordinary conditions under which we voluntarily work to bring freedom and democracy to the Iraqi people.

"Coalition forces and civilian contractors and administrators work side by side every day with the Iraqi people to provide essential goods and services like food, water, electricity and vital security to the Iraqi citizens and coalition members. Our tasks are dangerous and while we feel sadness for our fallen colleagues, we also feel pride and satisfaction that we are making a difference for the people of Iraq.

A Memorial Fund has been established to support the victim's families of the March 31, 2004 Fallujah attack. All memorial gifts will be documented and appropriately acknowledged with due regard to the wishes of the donor and the nature of the contribution. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims

Please Mail the contributions to: Memorial Fund PO Box 159 Moyock, NC 27958

Please Make checks Payable to: Memorial Fund

Please no cash contributions.

The following was written by Gary Jackson to the Blackwater community:

------------------------------

Good Morning This is a very hard issue to get written. This week Blackwater has agonized over the loss of four of its professionals. As most of you know the murders in Falujah Iraq earlier this week were men employed by Blackwater.

I ask that all of you keep these mens families in your prayers, contribute to the Victims Fund if possible and maintain the faith that God has his plans.

I thought that the FR community might wish to help out here, if not with money for the families of the slain, which after all can be small consolation, but certainly with prayer, which FReepers are normally generous with.

Let's keep thie thread a celebration of these men's lives, please, in case any of the family members should come across or be directed to it. Let's have one small place that is sheltered both from graphic details of this crime, and from hot-headed discourse on the revenge. Those discussions have their place, it's just that this isn't it. Show the respect and class that I have seen you all show so often before. Thank you.

As is befitting the class of these men.

Thanks to their families who are bearing the sacrifice of these men for ALL of us to live in safety and freedom.

These were Men,

America's Best....

I don't want to sound hard-hearted, but:
1. The families already get life insurance paid out from the federal gov't.
2. The soldiers' families can also buy private life ins.
3. How do you really know this money will go to the families? Is there any independent oversight for this fund?
