[history]
In a series of media interviews this week, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has hinted he might look at a tax increase to deal with the state's continuing budget crisis. Maybe he's just playing political games to throw the Legislature's tax-addicted Democratic majority off balance.

Here's my solution: tax the homeless, welfare recipients, and illegal immigrants.
Whether they flee the state of not, you're still ahead.

Terminate tax hikes. I do believe Arnold wants a second term and the last thing he will do is push tax increases down this state's throats. Even the Governor understands the real problem isn't that people are undertaxed; its that the state overspends.

....which would have made it easier to raise taxes by reducing to 55 percent from two-thirds the portion of the Legislature needed to pass a budget or raise taxes.Two-thirds is needed to "pass a budget"?
I thought the two-thirds requirement was ONLY for budgets with TAX INCREASES??
To: Lancey Howard
lol... Some other rag said the same thing some months back as well.
You are correct. Only if tax increases are included in the budget is a 2/3 vote required.
