Muslims cannot co-operate with local authorities against other members of the faith, the outspoken leader of an Islamic group has said.

But Sheikh Omar told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "Muslims have a unique way of life. Co-operating with the authorities against any other Muslims, that is an act of apostasy in Islam.
"Having said that, Muslims in Britain have the right to defend themselves, but without the use of violence. They can gather together, speak with the imams.
"The imams themselves should lecture the Muslim community, not the Muslim Council of Britain who are all of them a bunch of seculars."
Sheikh Omar complained that the media was "demonising" the Muslim community in Britain, and that a "cycle of violence" has been created by both terrorists and the British and American response.
But Shahid Malik, a member of Labour's governing National Executive Committee said that the Muslim Council of Britain's actions had been "very appropriate, very responsible".
Mr Malik said: "We cannot live in a fantasy world. Half-a-tonne of ammonium nitrate was found. I think that has been a big wake-up call, and I think that has been the catalyst for the action of the Muslim Council.
"Those involved in terrorism are not following the Muslim and Islamic way. Anybody involved in crime, it is the duty of all citizens to help the police and report them."
Interesting Theo;ogy. It means that everyone of 'em is guilty. Forget the phrase "Kill em all and let God sort it out" and replace it with the much simplified "Kill em all".
A Muslim cannot speak out against fellow Muslims, for the benefit of infidels (He may, however, advise Muslims that certain words or actions are not beneficial to the long-term welfare of Muslims)
A Muslim may not fight other Muslims to defend an infidel and remain a Muslim in good standing

Their web site's press release has this, "AMV condemns killings in Iraq, Pakistan" Think it has anything to do with the mutilations? Think again. I has to do with the killings of Muslims. They did however "call for the swift apprehension and punishment of the perpetrators" of the Madrid bombings.
Their site is the usual "anti-war," "we are victims," solidarity with the victims of America worldwide, and "we hate Bush and Ashcroft" stuff.
A recent thread "Terrorists ready for holy war in 40 American states" reports that radical Muslims are being "infiltrated into the US in preparation for 'an American jihad'." Are they hiding in the Jewish community? Some hillbilly neighborhood in Detroit? Where could they have gone?

Perhaps "American" Muslims fear for their lives? Well, so do we. For sure, after the next attack here -- to the internment camps for the duration! IMO.
And that's allyou need to know.
