In a grassroots movement, moms of all political persuasions organize to oust Bush

..........Iris Anthony, a mother of four boys, recalls sitting at the dinner table in her Arnold home, listening to Bush declare victory in Iraq and knowing with dreaded certainty that his declaration did not mean soldiers were coming home anytime soon.

"I looked around the table at my satin-cheeked boys - I mean, not one of them shaves yet - and saying I was damned if I was going to send any of them to Iraq.

"I think I actually cursed.

"Anyway, Theo, the 13-year- old says, 'Well, Mom. What are you going to do about it?'"

Anthony called 20 friends and told each one to call 20 friends and they gathered in her living room during the height of holiday preparations - the best evidence of their seriousness, she says.

"We decided we weren't going to be just a bunch of women whining on the phone to each other. If ever there was a year for mothers to act, this was it. The issues for mothers are so clear."

I know what you are thinking. These women are my friends and we all think alike or we never would have let our kids hang out together. But it isn't that simple.

Once a woman has a child, all children become her children, and she casts her net of compassion and empathy far and wide to embrace them.

"We are a diverse group," says Woolridge, a stay-at-home mom who voted Republican in 1988. "But we have a common heart."

The fathers of our children may become more conservative, and perhaps more Republican, as they seek to protect the stake in the community they established in the name of family. But the mothers often become less so.

Mothers pray for all families to prosper and all children to succeed. The president does himself no good if he refuses to address the dismay of this constituency. ...............

400 people in one room would give me more than hives. Someone needs to put a gag me with a spoon alert on this puke.

Hmmm. Has anyone let this mother know we have a volunteer military? Her sons aren't going to be sent anywhere to fight unless they enlist.

Silly women. Nuff said.

"The Moms" and "the chilrrun"-- where have I heard that emotive appeal before?

I also note the writer's ham-handed attempt to appear balanced and objective by tossing in a few meaningless snippets about Dads, Conservatives, and Voting Republican. Much like C-Span callers do.

Egad! I don't want my boys to die in a war, either, but if they're called to fight for freedom, then I'll pin on a smile and say, Go do it, boys!

A line from Toby Keith's "American Soldier" comes to mind:
"I don't want to die for you
But if dying's asked of me
I'll bear that cross with honor
'Cause freedom don't come free!"

Islamists pray for your families to convert to Islam or die.

That is what these women need to understand. I have 6 grandchildren (3 of each). I don't want them to have to go to war. But with terrorists, we are at war whether I want it or not.

None of us are 'safe' if a homicide bomber comes through a door where we are. We must take the fight to them. I would like to see a geriatric army put together to fight these SOBs. I'll take my cane and try to hit them on the head to protect my grandchildren. We have had a beautiful life in this wonderful country. I would like to see some of that available to my grandchildren.

"Tom Seibert, former ambassador to Sweden under President Clinton, Democratic fund-raiser and an Annapolis resident, stands to one side and introduces himself at this event as "Debbie's husband." His wife is one of the founders of the group."

What a surprise! A Democratic fundraiser behind this "diverse group" of moms.

Good for you! All of us need to be prepared to fight, if it comes to that. Maybe we won't ever have to defend our homes with canes (guns, kitchen knives, bare hands) ... and if we don't, we can thank our brave men and women in the military!

Don't be messing up a good pinko story with facts. We all know (OK- Feel), that Bush is bad, and our feelings must be right.

What really frosts me is that we let these people vote. We need some kind of test to screen out the feeble minded......

"I looked around the table at my satin-cheeked boys - I mean, not one of them shaves yet..."

Satin-cheeked? Satin-cheeked? I read A LOT, and I have never, ever, read this turn of phrase before; let alone heard it said by any person in real life. "Not one of them shaves yet?" That's a stretch too, how many Americans in casual conversation speak like that. None of them shave yet, they don't even shave yet, that I would believe, if it weren't for the satin-cheeked bit before. Who is these kid's mom, Frazier Crane? I do not believe that this woman, or any one, actually said these words. I would absolutely have to hear this remark on tape in order to believe it.

A gal pal actually told me that her son wanted them to take their boat out into the middle of the Atlantic ocean so the army couldn't find him.

Never mind there is no draft, that little fact never occured to them.

Pathetic, pitiful, self indulgent.....and a lot of other names that would get me banned for vulgarity!
