The Islamic World Remains Silent as Terrorists Claim Divine Sanction
Utopia Unmasked ^ | March 29, 2004 | William R Alford

"We knew that Bush is the enemy of God, the enemy of Islam and Muslims. America declared war against God. Sharon declared war against God, and God declared war against America, Bush and Sharon."

-- Widely reported remarks from Abdel Aziz Rantisi addressing a rally at the Islamic University in Gaza City, March 28, concerning HAMAS founder Sheik Ahmed Yassin’s ‘targeted killing’ by the IDF on March 22.

"The three martyrs were on a holy mission when the Zionist U.S.-made helicopters fired two missiles toward their vehicle."

-- HAMAS statement on its website concerning a March 3 IDF attack near Netzarim -- a Jewish settlement in Gaza -- that killed 24-year-old Tarad Jamal and two others. The Israeli government reports that Jamal had been implicated in previous bomb attacks on civilians.

Presumably this ‘holy mission’ – the thwarting of which the late Mr. Yassin apparently lamented [vowing more] – involved spilling the blood of Israeli men, women and children.

A few days after the wheelchair-bound Holy Man was himself similarly killed three weeks later, the UN Security Council voted to condemn Israel for the act. The U.S. vetoed the resolution, pointing out that there had been no previous UN condemnation for HAMAS – an organization dedicated to Israel’s violent replacement by an Islamic State. The UN’s stated reasoning is that the IDF killings are done without a trial. Trials are appropriate for criminal prosecutions, not war. [Certainly the targets of HAMAS and Islamic Jihad killings are not put on trial before their ‘executions’ either.]

A historical search has yielded no known UN condemnation for any action AGAINST Israel – not the 1972 murder of Israeli Olympic athletes in Munich, not the 1973 Yom Kippur surprise attack by Egypt and Syria – ever. This writer would be grateful for information on anything missed.

Over the years, there have been many UN condemnations of Israel, however. Israel must be the UN’s number one Pariah State, condemned more than any other nation [about 65 formal Resolutions against Israel from 1955-92]. None of this is surprising.

There are however, a couple of questions that arise, one minor and one major:

-- How is it that Dr. Rantisi managed to become the new leader of HAMAS within 24 hours of his predecessor’s untimely death? The means of succession must be very efficient indeed.

-- How it is that the Islamic world consistently offers no comment when people assume spokesmanship not only for an entire religion, but for the Almighty Himself. Time and time again, people like Rantisi – often with blood on their hands – pronounce their own enemies as enemies of all Islam. Often, intentional civilian killings are done in the name of the Almighty, citing an Islamic mantle.

One would think that it would be presumptuous to pronounce who is friend or foe of over one billion people. One would think that it would be unthinkable to cite the Will of God for any human action – be it benign or benevolent. To certify such an act as a suicide bombing as a ‘holy mission’ should be a most egregious blasphemy.

Yet the Islamic world remains largely silent in the face of these acts, unless it is to condemn the response. Rarely does an Islamic cleric offer the slightest condemnation of the killing itself or the invocation of Divine Sanction in justifying it. Outsiders are left to wonder why. Perhaps Muslims should understand that is not unreasonable to interpret such silence as tacit approval. Further, they may consider being as vocal distancing themselves from the likes of HAMAS as they are in condemning Israel and the United States.

We in the West have to understand that the likes of HAMAS will not stop until they achieve victory. There is no peaceful co-existence -- they certainly don't think so.

It's time for Israel to stop with the half-measures -- it's like whacking a hornets nest.

The suffering will continue on both sides until the swamp in drained. Period.

"The three martyrs were on a holy mission when the Zionist U.S.-made helicopters fired two missiles toward their vehicle."

Thereby making them "hole-y martyrs" on a hell-bound mission.

I'll go first: Boris is a foe of over one billion people.

Let us see if we can get Bush to say the same!
