Here is the text of HR557

H. RES. 557
Relating to the liberation of the Iraqi people and the valiant service of the United States Armed Forces and Coalition forces.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
MARCH 11, 2004
Mr. HYDE (for himself, Mr. DELAY, Mr. BLUNT, Ms. PRYCE of Ohio, Mr. GOSS, and Mr. HUNTER) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on International Relations, and in addition to the Committee on Armed Services, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned
RESOLUTION
Relating to the liberation of the Iraqi people and the valiant service of the United States Armed Forces and Coalition forces.

Whereas Saddam Hussein and his regime committed crimes against humanity, systematically violating the human rights of Iraqis and citizens of other countries;

Whereas Saddam Hussein’s terror regime subjected the Iraqi people to murder, torture, rape, and amputation;

Whereas on March 16, 1988, Saddam Hussein’s regime had and unleashed weapons of mass destruction against Kurdish citizens, killing nearly 5,000 of them;

Whereas as many as 270 mass grave sites, containing the remains of as many as 400,000 victims of Saddam Hussein’s regime, have been found in Iraq;

Whereas rape was used to intimidate the Iraqi population, with victims often raped in front of their families;

Whereas the regime punished the Marsh Arabs by draining the marshlands, which created hundreds of thousands of refugees and caused an ecological catastrophe;

Whereas the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 (Public Law 105– 338), passed by the House of Representatives by a vote of 360 to 38, made it United States policy to support efforts
to remove from power the regime headed by Saddam Hussein;

Whereas with the Iraqi regime failing to comply with 16 previously adopted United Nations Security Council resolutions, the Security Council unanimously approved Resolution 1441 on November 8, 2002, declaring that Iraq ‘‘has been and remains in material breach of its obligations under relevant resolutions, including resolution 687
(1991), in particular through Iraq’s failure to cooperate with United Nations inspectors’’; and whereas on October 10, 2002, the House of Representatives passed the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 (Public Law 107–243)
and on March 19, 2003, the United States initiated military operations in Iraq: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives—
(1) affirms that the United States and the world have been made safer with the removal of
Saddam Hussein and his regime from power in Iraq;
(2) commends the Iraqi people for their courage in the face of unspeakable oppression and brutality inflicted on them by Saddam Hussein’s regime;
(3) commends the Iraqi people on the adoption of Iraq’s interim constitution; and
(4) commends the members of the United States Armed Forces and Coalition forces for liberating Iraq and expresses its gratitude for their valiant service.

...T'was a wonderfull ..'Veterans against SANCHEZ'.. Demonstration outside her Office in my old hometown Garden Grove, California this bright clear morning.

...Veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War and the Iraq War were there to support our troops now bringing Freedom to others around the world...

...while Rep. LORETTA SANCHEZ isn't.

...I was blessed to give our opening Prayer and then I, along with other Veterans, were asked to give speeches in support of our Protectors. Every heartfelt speech was just outstanding.

...I will NEVER FORGET this particular event. Good Hearts doing what GOD expects of them is always good to see and to experience firsthand.

...Something Rep. LORETTA SANCHEZ wouldn't know anything about.

NEVER FORGET

Orange County Register

'VETERANS CRITICIZE SANCHEZ'

PHOTO -

Praying Iraq Veteran carrying Iraq Flag

CAPTION -

REMEMBERING: Former Marine Manny Sanchez, who recently returned from his duty in Iraq, joined about 30 Veterans and other protesters in a moment of silence to honor military servicemen and women who died serving in Iraq. Protest organizer Tim Whitarce, president of the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Orange County, said the group is protesting a March 18 vote by Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Santa Ana, against HR557 to honor U.S. Troops in Iraq. Whitacre said Sanchez should thank the troops rather than voting against the measure and taking other stances against the military. The Group wants Sanchez removed from the House Armed Services Committee.

Orange County Register photo caption is wonderful! They do influence readers.

It is rare to see a story about our troops (even (especially) a pic caption) end on a respectful note.

...Whitacre said Sanchez should thank the troops rather than voting against the measure and taking other stances against the military. The Group wants Sanchez removed from the House Armed Services Committee.

Whoo hoo! Bad idea to speak, act, vote against anything that undermines the welfare of our troops today. Let us hope and pray members of the other armed services committees on Capitol Hill hear this message, too.

LORETTA SANCHEZ's Garden Grove Office was closed for the day Saturday. It was in front of this very office that LORETTA SANCHEZ turned her back several times to TV Cameras and Mikes during the GARY CONDIT-CHANDRA LEVY Saga.

See the 'LORETTA SANCHEZ Condo Connection to GARY CONDIT' Threads at the end of my Bookmarked Thread List. They're accessible through the 'Links' on my ALOHA RONNIE Freeper Home Page. Just hit "ALOHA RONNIE" on this Post to get there.
