GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) -- In a posthumous letter released Tuesday, Hamas founder Sheik Ahmed Yassin defended violent attacks on Israel and called for Arabs to support insurgents fighting to oust the U.S.-led occupation force in Iraq.
The letter by Yassin, who was killed by an Israeli missile strike Monday, was addressed to participants at an Arab summit scheduled to convene in Tunisia next week and was posted on the Hamas Web site Tuesday.

Your earlier comment, I have not read one bit about the fact that the attack in Ashdod last week was an attempt to murder thousands by blowing up the supplies of Chlorine at the port. I guess the press must have forgotten. But that is the reason that IMO you will now see the gloves come off--I think the day is close that they will take Arafat out--I am praying that the world condemns Israel to the point that they will become a "cup of poison", and will recognize our G-d of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. By further condemning Israel, they will leave no reason for them not to protect themselves from Arafat.

A few papers mentioned it, but only in passing, as in the "militant" asked where the bromide was before exploding. I think the escalation, fortunately failed, may have been an issue. I wouldn't be surprised if they'll be an effort to clean out Gaza, but I'm skeptical they'll take our Arafat. There's a lot of work to be done with Hamas, and other than Rantisi, no names the world is going to care about one way or the other.

A real sweetheart. Oh well the good news is he won't be around to deliver his usual sermon of mass murder directed at the Jews and America to his Islamist friends elsewhere in the Arab World.

" Before the American invasion of Iraq, its leader, Saddam Hussein, was one of the Arab world's strongest supporters of Palestinians. He regularly made lump-sum payments to surviving family members of suicide bombers and provided financial assistance for the families of bombers made homeless in Israeli reprisals."
More than likely "oil for food " money.
Who would have thought it, saddam the philanthropist.

That deranged old sheik finally became part of the peace process. I think he should shut up and concentrate on being dead.

Do you remember that all along I have been telling people that this was the plan, and that Sharon was being badly misjudged. I believe that he and Netanyahu planned this exactly as it is playing out because I saw the letter in Sharon's own handwriting bequeathing the Prime Ministership to Netanyahu at the proper time and for the proper reason. This was immediately after his election.
He then set about getting Israelis angry enough at HIM to fight for Yesha after Barak had insisted that the Settlers were Israel's worst problem.
The Settlements were always Sharon's first love. He would rather have died than give up one inch of Israeli territory.
So of all the things he threatened, not one thing was actually carried out except a certain few things that would gather Israelis to support the Settlements, and he riled the Kahanists by razing an unfinished Shul in honor of Rabbi Kahane and his family, all of whom were murdered by Arab terrorists. NOBODY will fight for Yesha like the Kahanists.
He riled Kach by arresting and holding Noam Federman.
Sharon orchestrated this like the world's finest maestro.
Now he has become the General again, and he has gotten most of Israel ready, finally ready, after being numbed out by Oslo and Clinton, to FIGHT a real war and WIN.
I believe this was set in motion the very day Sharon took office, Netanyahu knew and remained silent, because had he NOT known, Sharon would have been gone long ago.
Sharon danced on a tightrope and did not fall, but rather kept all of the Arabs off balance, allowed them to believe they were winning and that Israel had lost its will while all along strengthening Israel's will. I think he would rather have waited to try and evacuate Jews from the West Bank and Gaza, (Palestinian occupied Israel,) but Ashdod came too close to the bone to wait for even one more attack. Remember that Ashdod is Netanyahu's announced vision of a new beginning for Israel. For that vision to be possible, no Arab terrorists can remain.
When the dust settles, Israel will remember that Sharon fought Amalek out of love for HaShem and Israel. And no other named god will ever be as powerful as the G-d of Yisrael who has no Name.
No one might agree with me yet, but I invite anyone to prove differently after giving it some thought.
Sharon will now get his meeting with Bush who wanted no part of an Israeli surrender.
Am Yisrael Chai od America Chai!!!
G-d bless Geoge Bush and our military and G-d bless Israel and the IDF. Just DO it!

Yes. I don't doubt Sharon's motivations nor his love for Israel, he's no hack politician, and I think he views this as his last chance to leave a legacy. Same for Bibi, though he has time to be Sharon's successor. If you're saying they gave the PA enough rope to hang themselves, I think you're right. We could generously term it a second chance. Hopefully GWB is in on it. I suspect we might disagree on the borders, I think it will be the fences, an undefined east, but this problem may be heading to a resolution. Hamas needs to be destroyed, as do the PLO, though I think they'll simply be marginalized.

I've noticed that Islamists, in general, are much more diligent writers after they've croaked.

S, at this point, I'd be willing to bet that Israel's borders will be all of Ancient Israel and part of Lebanon.
This is a fight to the finish and no one can turn back.

S. Jackson, I thought I'd pass on a little humor. I talked to friends in Israel, and they are calling him "Sheikh Kabob."
