The usual idiots.
The Washington Post ^ | March 20, 2004 | Medea Benjamin

Thousands of Americans today will mark the first anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq by marching against the war. Why, if the war is officially over and Saddam Hussein has been captured, will residents of some 200 American cities join others around the world and take to the streets? Those of us who have traveled to Iraq to witness firsthand the effects of this occupation have returned with some profound reasons.

Dear WAPO Editor,

I am an avowed news junkie and am an avid consumer of all news off and online. I have read and heard a great deal about Medea Benjamin and her stance concerning the Iraq war. A brief online search using her name will reveal her as an unabashed communist in a peace activists clothing. I am not naive enough to believe you can be completely unaware of these facts. I am nonetheless compelled to point these things out to you.

Medea is no peace activist. The Iraq war is a convenient vehicle from which she seeks ultimately to rally like-minded souls to her true (albeit unrealistic) goal. I find it simply astounding that the Washington Post would provide a forum for a person who desires to overthrow the US government and bring an end to virtually everything America stands for, including the freedom of the press.

Before you dismiss this note as another right wing rant, follow the links below.

Allowing Medea Benjamin to use your publication as an anti-war (read anti-US) propaganda organ puts American troops serving in Iraq in greater danger. It would appear that the Washington Post has certified it's standing as a useful tool for Medea and her ilk in their never-ending quest for useful idiots.

Most of these thousands who will be marching against the war are twenty-and-thirty-somethings sad they missed out on all the "fun" of the 60s -- a lot like that "Woodstock" redux that was held in the '80s. They'd be marching whatever the reason, just to say they did.

We are marching because we don't want any more of our soldiers to die. We want the United States out, and the United Nations in.

Only an imbecile could think our troops will stop dying if the UN takes over.

We are still going have to supply the majority of the troops. With other countries picking political favorites and factions, the violence is liable to increase, not decrease.

If the French and Germans are in, they will be trying to but the Baathists back in charge, because that is who they like to deal with.

Why ... will residents of some 200 American cities join others around the world and take to the streets

Because most of them have been in bed all week, living off taxpayer largesse.

I shocked some liberal cohorts recently when I said that each time an American dies in Iraq, their side experiences ecstacy over it (well, that's the cleaned-up version of it; I don't want to violate post rules!) After reading Medea's article, it's clear that what I said was mild!
