Troop Prayer Thread 10 - A Year of VICTORY!

Posted on 03/19/2004 12:51:59 PM PST by TEXOKIE

THREE CHEERS FOR OUR WONDERFUL TROOPS, THEIR ALLIES, AND ALL WHO ARE SERVING IN SUPPORT CAPACITIES IN THE WAR ON TERROR! YOU HAVE GIVEN THIS NATION A YEAR OF VICTORY IN THAT WAR! The honor is yours, but know that we bask in your accomplishments and love you for your steadfast service on this day!

Welcome, everyone to the 10th Troop Prayer Thread! Today is the anniversary of the resumption of hostilities with Iraq, wherein our troops have made military history that shall ring down the centuries.

The troop prayer threads are dedicated to giving our troops, allies, and all who are serving the Holy Cause of Freedom, including (but not limited to) the families and loved ones waiting at home and those who are not in uniform but who are serving in dangerous situations supporting our troops and gathering intelligence spiritual support. We seek together to offer prayer, scriptures, encouraging messages, and other devotions dedicated to this purpose.

We have over the past year gathered together a prayer list of these servants of freedom. You will find it posted below. FReeper amom has been serving as our List Keeper this past year and I wish to thank and commend her for doing such a meticulous job of keeping it updated. She has also been keeping our ping list up to date. If you wish to submit a name for the prayer list or to add or take off a name from the ping list, please let either or both of us know.

For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, or still have phone modems, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly appropriate, and as much as possible, non-moving graphics. Thank you.

Thank you so much for spiritually supporting our troops, allies, support civilians, and their families.

We are grateful to God that for those who have been injured or taken back Home, He has dispatched angels to their care.

Dear Lord,
Lest I continue
My complacent way
Help me remember
Somewhere out there
A man died for me today
--As long as there be war
I then must
Ask and answer
Am I worth dying for?"

Taken from the book, "A Man Called Intrepid" by William Stevenson about William Stephenson, the head of British intelligence services prior to and during WWII. He wrote this at the very beginnings of the Battle of Britain and shared it with Eleanor Roosevelt.

STAR SPANGELED BANNER

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'T is the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

AMERICA, WE LOVE YOU!
AMERICA, WE LOVE YOU!

Continued prayers for bulldogs and Mary and amen.

Prayers for our troops in Fallujah who have had a long last 24 hours and we can expect it to get longer before their work there is done. Praying to fill them with strength and stamina to do what must be done and once done the calm of the heart which comes of knowing they gave their best.

God's blessings surround bulldogs, his dear wife Mary, their family and friends. May He comfort and sustain them, and keep them close beneath the shelter of His wing as they go through this difficult time.

Texokie IS a wonder, a rare one.

Thank you, amom, for being understanding about my not-so- Christian like post. I regreted it as soon as I hit the post button.

Chris' (immediate) family said to thank you all for your prayers, it lifted his spirit.

And amom, you are also a wonder and I appreciate all you do.

Prayer Request

Troop Prayer Thread participant TruthNtegrity, has a possible opportunity to obtain a job in governmental service in the DC area. She states that the job would allow her to continue in her service to our troops. She has asked for prayer support in this effort from our Prayer Warriors. One thing which she is facing is that the previous administration severely damaged the clearance process and it is still not fixed, so we need to ask the Lord to help expedite her clearance process.

TNT informs us that she is going to be visiting our injured troops at Walter Reed on the Easter weekend - taking in chicks, jelly beans, and chocolate bunnies and chocolate eggs.."

She promises us a 'trip report'.

PLEASE POST A LINK TO YOUR REPORT, TNT!! WE ENJOY THEM SO MUCH!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beloved Heavenly Father,
Our fellow Prayer Warrior, TruthNtegrity, is seeking a job in government service. We understand that the position would allow her to continue in her service to our troops in some capacity. We also understand that the clearance procedures are problematic these days. We ask that you will intercede and cause those responsible to be charged with the understanding that this situation needs to be remedied. Oversee it and let it be refurbished according to thy Will and guidance.
Father, we place all of this on the altar, and we ask that you will open the doors that need opening and close the ones that need closing. We petition you for this job on behalf of our TNT, but we also ask that only your Will be done, for your Plan is always better than what we may be able to perceive from our limited perspective. Bless this fellow Prayer Warrior and all who may be in a similar situation of need and desire to serve.
We ask that you will overshadow TruthNtegrity during her visits in our behalf to the injured troops at Walter Reed. If there are others involved in similar activities, overshadow and bless them also. Bless, heal, and comfort all our injured heroes. Grant them hope, peace, and abundant joy in their lives.
Let our prayers be adjusted according to thy divine Will.
Amen
ANOTHER PRAYER REQUEST:
In post 124 armymarinemom has requested prayer for a lady who died on her way to greet homecoming troops.
"It is with a sad heart that I ask prayers for a local family. We lost a great troop supporter this evening here. She literally passed away supporting our troops. This loving mother of 5 who have served our country with a son in-law currently in Iraq died on her way to greet troops returning home. I'm sorry to say that I was not there tonight but I did get word that once again our troops showed honor.
The chaplin on the flight had a small service for the troop greeter. God Bless him and our troops. The troops did get a welcome but they gave comfort to those who came to comfort."
BELOVED HEAVENLY FATHER,
We place on the altar the lady who held to her heart our troops and was diligent in making sure that they had a proper "welcome home" as they return from the Front. Father, this servant passed on while she was making her way to perform this service. Bless her and grant her a very special place in your heaven. If it is your Will, let her continue her work in greeting and welcoming our precious troops who are called Home to you to Heaven.
Father, bless and surround her family and many friends while they mourn their loss of her Presence among them. Comfort and heal them during their time of grief.
Amen
"May we look to God for instruction and guidance in what is good and right. May He surround us with His providence, open our eyes to every danger, give us courage to face it, wisdom to defeat it, and be our strength, shield and buckler as we do battle with the type of ignorance and evil that feeds hatred such as that - here and abroad. God grant us victory in this WOT for the sake of freedom all over the world, and may the resulting freedom give rise to glorification of our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."
AMEN
Thank you for leading us in prayer, LucyJo.
