Troop Prayer Thread 10 - A Year of VICTORY!

Posted on 03/19/2004 12:51:59 PM PST by TEXOKIE

THREE CHEERS FOR OUR WONDERFUL TROOPS, THEIR ALLIES, AND ALL WHO ARE SERVING IN SUPPORT CAPACITIES IN THE WAR ON TERROR! YOU HAVE GIVEN THIS NATION A YEAR OF VICTORY IN THAT WAR! The honor is yours, but know that we bask in your accomplishments and love you for your steadfast service on this day!

Welcome, everyone to the 10th Troop Prayer Thread! Today is the anniversary of the resumption of hostilities with Iraq, wherein our troops have made military history that shall ring down the centuries.

The troop prayer threads are dedicated to giving our troops, allies, and all who are serving the Holy Cause of Freedom, including (but not limited to) the families and loved ones waiting at home and those who are not in uniform but who are serving in dangerous situations supporting our troops and gathering intelligence spiritual support. We seek together to offer prayer, scriptures, encouraging messages, and other devotions dedicated to this purpose.

We have over the past year gathered together a prayer list of these servants of freedom. You will find it posted below. FReeper amom has been serving as our List Keeper this past year and I wish to thank and commend her for doing such a meticulous job of keeping it updated. She has also been keeping our ping list up to date. If you wish to submit a name for the prayer list or to add or take off a name from the ping list, please let either or both of us know.

For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, or still have phone modems, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly appropriate, and as much as possible, non-moving graphics. Thank you.

Thank you so much for spiritually supporting our troops, allies, support civilians, and their families.

We are grateful to God that for those who have been injured or taken back Home, He has dispatched angels to their care.

Dear Lord,
Lest I continue
My complacent way
Help me remember
Somewhere out there
A man died for me today
--As long as there be war
I then must
Ask and answer
Am I worth dying for?"

Taken from the book, "A Man Called Intrepid" by William Stevenson about William Stephenson, the head of British intelligence services prior to and during WWII. He wrote this at the very beginnings of the Battle of Britain and shared it with Eleanor Roosevelt.

STAR SPANGELED BANNER

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'T is the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

"We still live in backwoods rural America with no rapid connectors to the net available to us yet....soon, we hope! :-)"

I posted your greeting in the Canteen.

I finally got 2 way satellite for my isp.
No dsl or cable will ever get here.

Prayers as always for our troops

It is with a sad heart that I ask prayers for a local family. We lost a great troop supporter this evening here. She literally passed away supporting our troops. This loving mother of 5 who have served our country with a son in-law currently in Iraq died on her way to greet troops returning home. I'm sorry to say that I was not there tonight but I did get word that once again our troops showed honor.

The chaplin on the flight had a small service for the troop greeter. God Bless him and our troops. The troops did get a welcome but they gave comfort to those who came to comfort.

Amen to another wonderful prayer, TexOkie. I join you, as always, in praying for our president, our military folks, and all of those in charge of our security, and in praying especially at this time for the loved ones of those whose bodies were so desecrated. Man's hatred is a vile and ugly thing to behold in all of its manifestations, but there is something particularly evil, and horrifying, about involving children in such violence and teaching them to rejoice in it.
May we look to God for instruction and guidance in what is good and right. May He surround us with His providence, open our eyes to every danger, give us courage to face it, wisdom to defeat it, and be our strength, shield and buckler as we do battle with the type of ignorance and evil that feeds hatred such as that - here and abroad. God grant us victory in this WOT for the sake of freedom all over the world, and may the resulting freedom give rise to glorification of our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Dear TEXOKIE,

I've been away for a while and now catching up on reading all the posts. You ARE guided by the Holy Spirit, I am sure of it. Not like you, at this moment, my heart is full of pure hatred for the evil seeds who committed such unspeakable acts upon our people who were trying to help them. I shake with anger and want to pray that our Almighty God brings instant justice upon the guilty.

Can't even start to imagine how the families feel...

But, His Will be done in His time. I pray that He guides our leader and this nation and brings it back to what it once was, a Nation Under God.

REQUEST FOR PRAYERS

Prairiebreeze, one of our troop prayer thread participants is requesting prayers for Mary, wife of FReeper bulldogs, who is terminally ill and undergoing hospice care.

She has stated, "I'm writing to Pray for Pres. Bush list and will put up a post in Chat asking for prayers.

Time is short for Mary I believe. Many thanks."

While we try to maintain focus on this thread for our troops and those supporting them, we are pleased to pray on the thread for other FReepers in special instances. The prayer list for the thread itself is limited to our troops and those who support them and their families. As individuals you are invited to include Mary and bulldogs on your own personal prayer lists.

As I understand it, Billbears has threads available with the mission of praying for FReepers in need.

Beloved Heavenly Father,
We are praying at this time for bulldogs' wife, Mary, who is undergoing hospice care. We ask that you will surround her and comfort her and her entire family. Help them to resolve and bring into the highest state of love all their relationships. Guide this family during this difficult time.
Comfort and heal them. Take into your arms bulldogs' precious Mary. Help her medical people in the management of pain and other palliative therapies.

We ask for as many miracles of healing and comfort for Mary and her family as your great Law will allow. Please multiply our prayers for any and all who are undergoing a similar situation of need.
Amen
