There are situations in my life when it doesnt matter to me how competent a person is. For instance, if Im at a fast food place, the criterion for competency is simply knowing that mustard is yellow, ketchup is red, and the ability to make the correct amount of change. I admit that the money part baffles a lot of the young workers at these places, but thats another story. Simply put, the mass-produced food at these places is hard to mess up, so lack of skill on the part of the worker isnt usually an issue.
Then there are times when competency is the number-one issue on my priority list. For example, when Im flying in a plane, I want the best pilot there is. I dont care if he or she is white, black, tall, short, fat, thin, single, married, or whatever. I dont care if he or she is Republican, Democrat, Independent, or a Green. I want the most competent pilot to be at the controls--and thats all there is to it. Call me picky, but I also want the most competent mechanic to have worked on the plane that Im riding in. I dont think this is asking too much and I think most people would agree with me on that point. When it comes to flying, it doesnt take much in the way of human error to really ruin your day.
So you may be asking yourself what the heck has this got to do with politics. Well, there were many times throughout the various campaigns and elections when a Democrat was interviewed and he had only one preference for a candidate. That stated preference wasnt John Kerry, Howard Dean, Wesley Clark, or any of the rest. The people being interviewed simply said, ''I want anyone but Bush.'' Think about that. A person will settle for only the best pilot, but any Democrat is better than a Republican? They have to be nuts!
Its not only the fact that the President has access to the nuclear button that makes me demand competence. It is also the fact that the primary function of the government is to defend America. Without a good defense there will be no America. I dont see that concept as being a hard one to grasp, but apparently is is tough for a Democrat.
It might be hard to explain to a child, but any adult should be able to understand that we are at war with terrorists. By definition of the word terrorists alone, this war should be clearly seen as a global war. There is no fighting front like the trenches in World War I or the battles for the islands in the Pacific and the beaches of Europe as there was in World War II. This is a war where the bad guys dont wear uniforms and they want to cause as many civilians casualties as possible. In this war the targets arent of a military nature, the targets are you and me.
So, given the fact that the current administration is successful at this war, why would a person even think of an ''anyone but Bush'' candidate? The obvious answer is that success is not what the Democrats want. They want death and destruction to happen all right, but not to the bad guys. They want it to happen to us. They have little hope of getting their power back unless they can convince the electorate that a poor defense and appeasing our enemies is the best way to defend America.
Bush has destabilized the Middle East and turned it from an area of dictators and certain corruption, to an area where its been proven twice that the United States can take out a government in a real short period of time. The message is simple and the Libyan government has realized it. Libya is turning over some of the tools of nuclear weapon production, and is co-operating. The pressure is on Iran to co-operate and I think the country eventually will co-operate. North Korea is feeling the heat and several countries are demanding that it dismantle its nuclear program.
In the Democratic playbook, these examples arent looked on as being successful. They are looked on with disdain, mostly because we did it without the help of the United Nations. As far as the Democrats are concerned, we should have ceded our sovereignty to the U.N. years ago and let them teach us how we should run our nation properly.
Next November, Im voting based on competence and the ability to defend this country. That cuts out John Kerry, Ralph Nader, and a host of other leftists, so I guess you could say Im for anyone but a liberal.
The ignorance is really astounding and the dims have learned to capitalize on it. Just listing to the things that kerry says, anyone with half a brain would be able to see through it yet some morons eat it up. No wonder they want to give 14 year olds the right to vote in Ca. The more ignorant people are, the more likely they will vote dim.
