One in eight UK Muslims 'support terrorist attacks'

ONE in eight British Muslims back al-Qaeda-style terror strikes on the United States and almost half said they might consider becoming a suicide bomber if they lived as a Palestinian, according to a new poll.

An overwhelming 80 per cent said Britain and the US should not have launched the invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein.

Attacks on the US by al-Qaeda or other groups were viewed as justified by 13 per cent of the 500 British Muslims questioned. Another 15 per cent said they did not know whether such attacks were wrong or right.

The Muslim Council of Britain said the poll, for the Guardian, showed most Muslims "abhor" terror attacks. A spokesman, Inayat Bunglawala, said: "It confirms our own finding that the overwhelming majority abhor terror attacks and see them as unIslamic."

Asked about the 13 per cent who feel further attacks on the US would be justified, Mr Bunglawala said: "Post 9/11 the US has lost a lot of sympathy in the Muslim community with the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq and hawkish remarks towards Syria and Iran.

"There is large-scale disillusionment with how the US has conducted itself in Muslim countries."

One of Britain’s most radical Muslim leaders said he believed the majority of Muslims in the UK supported al-Qaeda-style terror attacks on the US.

Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad, who heads the London-based group Al-Muhajiroun, said British Muslims were afraid to voice their real feelings about the coalition war in Iraq.

"Since the introduction of the new anti-terrorism laws, Muslims are terrified to speak their minds," he said.

Meanwhile, fears of a major terrorist attack in Britain intensified following the emergence of new evidence to support the suspicion that al-Qaeda was behind the terrorist atrocities in Madrid. Britain’s security services are still believed to be on their second highest level of alert - "severe general", which was raised from "substantial" last year following intelligence about plans by al-Qaeda supporters from North Africa.

The alerts are for the security services only, including the police, the army, MI6 and MI5, and are not usually made public. They were introduced after the Bali bombings to help those involved in the fight against terrorism respond to changing circumstances.

A spokesman for the Home Office said yesterday: "Since 11September there has been a heightened sense of threat.

"At present there is no specific threat, but if there is we will make that known where that would help people to avoid a particular attack."

Meanwhile, Geoff Hoon, the Defence Secretary, said the Madrid rail bombings underlined the need for rail passengers to be alert and to report anything suspicious to the authorities.

"If there are any packages, any briefcases and suitcases that don’t appear to belong to any particular individual they should ask each other," he told BBC1’s The Politics Show.

"They should ask fellow passengers, they should bring it to the attention of guards and those in authority.

"It is that kind of action that can make an enormous difference if the public do co-operate, as I am sure they will."

Mr Hoon’s comments followed those of the country’s biggest rail workers’ union, the Rail Maritime and Transport Union, which called for increased security on the UK’s rail network in the wake of the bombings.

Senior Scotland Yard officers were reported to be reviewing security measures already in place in London.

British Transport Police have confirmed that plain-clothes counter-terrorism officers will conduct patrols on the London Underground system, and uniformed officers are to begin stop and search checks at Tube stations as vigilance is stepped up. Passengers on the Underground have been warned to make their own checks for unattended baggage, British Transport Police said, and a new poster campaign will be launched this week.

I hate to say this and not only because I've got relatives over there, but I think England is going to be getting it next. When it does happen, they'll probably run with their tails between their legs just like the Spanish have done.

Yeah, the religion of pieces.

How long until ten year olds in UK have backpack bombs like in Judea and Samaria?

Wasn't there some muslim propaganda a few weeks ago that said they would change the balance of power?

I think it came from an e-mail, Al Jerkzerra or some Saudi misfit Imam Cleric goatie?

So 28% of a group supposedly afraid to voice their REAL opinions because they are terrified by anti terrorism laws, support or at least won't condemn terror acts. Makes you wonder what the real number is eh?

Oh yeah, but we are only at war with a "tiny percentage of radicals who don't represent most muslims" as the vast majority are fine peace loving people.

We need to exploit our lead in biotechnology for the development of weapons against an "integrated enemy".

Report: Israel developing biological weapons targeting Arabs from www.arabicnews.com
http://www.arabicnews.com/ansub/Daily/Day/981116/1998111619.html

Regional-Israel, Military, 11/16/1998
Israel has abstained from commenting on reports leaked to Western media that it had developed "ethnic" biological weapons which target Arabs and exclude Jews, a British daily reported.

Apart from the condemnation of Israeli Knesset Member Dedi Zucker, for processing this weapon which he described as "immoral," the Israeli governmental source kept silent toward these information which were attributed to Israeli military sources and Western intelligence.

In its Sunday issue, the British daily "Sunday Times" said that Israel is embarking on developing biological weapons which can affect people according to their ethnic affiliation.

The paper reported that Israeli scientists are trying to exploit medical discoveries in order to diagnose "distinctive genes" relating to Arabs and develop according to these genes "microorganisms" that can attack those who carry these "distinctive genes" apart from others through transforming the "DNA system" inside the human cells.

The same source quoted scientists working at the Israeli Neis Tasyouna institute which specializes in manufacturing biological and chemical weapons as saying that they faced difficulties in diagnosing "distinctive genes for the Arabs" because both Jews and Arabs are descended from a Semitic origin, while others said they could actually diagnose certain traits "in the profile gene" of certain Arab communities, especially the Iraqi people.

The said weapon can be used by being sprayed in the air or the water. Israeli sources said that this "weapon can get at the trench of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein."

The name of the Israeli biological institute was front-paged by the Israeli dailies following news that Israelis who live near the institute had been exposed to vague and unfamiliar symptoms as a result of material leakage. Israeli officials denied such news.

The Israeli media gave wide interest to the report by the British daily, which asserted that a secret report on the development of the Israeli ethnic weapons project had recently arrived at the US Defense Department (Pentagon ).

Last year the Pentagon warned in a secret report against the possibility of developing biological elements through genetic engineering to manufacture new weapons of mass destruction.

The idea of the ethnic biological weapon was based on research prepared by a scientist from South Africa during apartheid in South Africa. The idea was disclosed during discussions of the investigation into crimes of racial discrimination in South Africa. All research pertaining to the development of biological weapons was secretly transferred to Israel from South Africa just a short time prior to the collapse of the racist regime in South Africa out of fears that it would fall into the hands of the blacks.

Within the same context, Israeli Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon reiterated that, "Israel reserves its right to repel any possible Iraqi attack."

At the conclusion of his meeting on Sunday with the US secretary of commerce, Sharon added: "Israel can defend itself and knows how to prevent being attacked."

...Ethnic specific biological weapons
Current wisdom holds that population specific biological weapons are practically and theoretically impossible. Practically, many consider it impossibly difficult to use genetic variability to kill or otherwise affect populations. Others, including geneticists, argue that no suitable ethnic specific genes exist in the first place. Both notions are wrong. New technologies are indeed available to translate specific genetic sequences into markers or triggers for biological activity. And a recent analysis of human genome data in public databases revealed that hundreds, possibly thousands, of target sequences for ethnic specific weapons do exist. It appears that ethnic specific biological weapons may indeed become possible in the near future…

It must be stressed that ethnic or population specific weapons are still a future threat and may not be accomplished within the coming decade. However, the notion that they are impossible and would violate the laws of nature is wrong and outdated. Practical steps can and must be undertaken today to prevent the future development of these kind of weapons. A key step would be to restrict the amount of ethnic specific genomic data to an absolute minimum. We are, however, currently witnessing a scientific development that is actually doing the opposite: creating vast amount of genetic data for different populations and ethnic groups. This happens in a variety of contextes:

Customizable aspects of advanced agent development may allow for predictable, desired results following agent release.
. Unusual clinical presentation could allow a biological warfare attack to be mischaracterized as a natural outbreak and remain undetected.
. Development of novel agents previously unknown to the medical community would yield BW agents that are difficult to diagnose and treat.
. Advanced agents could be developed to circumvent vaccines or treatments designed to counter traditional agents.
. Agents could be tailored to target a specific population based on genetic or cultural traits.
. Sterilizing, oncogenic (cancer-causing), or debilitating agents could be created for use as a strategic weapon against a target population for long-term effects.

I have no doubt the real number is close to 50% of British Muslims, that would be about 800,000. I doubt the british could handle an uprising of 800,000, especially when the BBC and the GUARDIAN is on their side....

Yet another good reason to ban all Muslim immigration...until Muslims disavow killings and violence against Christians, Jews, Democracy, etc.

Which will be on a cold day in Mohammed's hell.

Yeah. and the British ones are more sophisticated, and educated and probably more moderate then their domestic cousins in Pakistan etc. But we only fight a small group of terrorists. /sarcasm

Just the idea of 200,000 to 800,000 fighters already inside the UK should give them pause.
