It won’t work (Same-sex Marriage)
BP News ^ | 5 Mar 2004 | Kelly Boggs

McMINNVILLE, Ore. (BP)--So homosexuals want to get married, what’s the big deal? They say they love each other. Why deny them the privilege of forking over $60 (the cost of a marriage license in Multnomah County, Ore.) for the right to solemnize their commitment?

Solemnize? Yes, you read it right, solemnize. According to the Oregon Revised Statutes (number 106.041), Everyone wishing to enter into a marriage must obtain a license from the county clerk which will then be provided to “any person or religious organization or congregation authorized by [state statute] to solemnize marriages, and authorizing such person, organization or congregation to join together as husband and wife the persons named in the license.”

Solemnize, according to the American Heritage Dictionary, means to celebrate or observe with grace, dignity and gravity or to perform with formal ceremony.

In our postmodern world, where all definitions are subject to interpretation, it is probably acceptable for a woman to refer to herself as a husband and a man as a wife. So, I won’t bother commenting on the latter portion of the statute. However, I would like mull the idea of solemnizing.

It is my observation that many –- if not most -– of the same-sex couples who are participating in the matrimonial frenzy taking place in Portland (as well as in San Francisco) have long since “solemnized” their relationships.

I think you would be hard pressed to find very many same-sex couples waiting outside the Multnomah County Courthouse that have not previously declared their love for one another in some sort of ceremony. I am sure many have even had their relationships “solemnized” by a minister of some sort. Certain churches have been blessing same-sex relationships for years, some for decades.

So, why would a couple that has already “solemnized” their relationship go to all the trouble of waiting in a line and paying money only to repeat vows similar to ones shared in a previous ceremony? Validation is the reason.

Government sanctioned same-sex “marriage” is not about love or commitment. It is about societal acceptance. Homosexual activists believe that by obtaining marriage licenses their relationships suddenly will be viewed as equal with heterosexual matrimony. There is one serious flaw in this reasoning: It won’t work.

Current polls indicate the vast majority of Americans are opposed to the idea of homosexual “marriage.” Many citizens are willing to live-and-let-live and allow for arrangements that grant gay couples basic rights. However, they are opposed to any attempt to redefine the traditional concept (one man and one woman) of marriage.

Even if the court system forces government sanctioned same-sex “marriage” upon the American people, the action will not alter attitudes. In 1973 the Supreme Court imposed abortion on demand as law throughout the United States. Three decades later, opposition to abortion remains strong and even appears to be growing.

When government sanction of same-sex “marriage” does not result in society’s embrace of gay relationships, activists then will label any and all who disagree with homosexuality as dangerous bigots who are a threat to American democracy. Oh, I forgot, they do that already.

In a recent Wall Street Journal column, Mary Ann Glendon, Learned Hand Professor of Law at Harvard University, commented on the probable consequences of the government sanction of same-sex “marriage.” She wrote:

“Religious freedom, too, is at stake. As much as one may wish to live and let live, the experience in other countries reveals that once these arrangements become law, there will be no live-and-let-live policy for those who differ. Gay-marriage proponents use the language of openness, tolerance and diversity, yet one foreseeable effect of their success will be to usher in an era of intolerance and discrimination the likes of which we have rarely seen before. Every person and every religion that disagrees will be labeled as bigoted and openly discriminated against. The ax will fall most heavily on religious persons and groups that don’t go along. Religious institutions will be hit with law suits if they refuse to compromise their principles.”

Why deny government sanction of same-sex “marriage”? Because the issue is not about love or commitment; it is about the validation of a lifestyle that most believe is wrong. Nothing will change that. Not the courts, not intimidation, not even coercion can force the American public, especially those with deep-seated religious convictions, to validate homosexuality. --30-- Kelly Boggs’ column appears each Friday in Baptist Press. The bottom line, the end game, is that homosexual activists want our children.

If and when (God forbid) so-called gay marriage becomes the law of the land, you may be 100% certain that the ACLU and the NEA will force grade school teachers to proclaim "Gay Pride Month," to teach gay "sex ed," and so on.

"Little Billy, do you want to marry a man or a lady when you grow up?" This type of homosexual brainwashing is going to be forced upon our children, under the force of law. Anyone who resists will be branded a homophobic bigot. Teachers who refuse to teach the pro-homo line will be fired.

This is where we are headed, if "gay marriage" becomes legal in the USA.

Homosexuals can't reproduce, they can only recruit. Once they force gay marriage upon us through their black-robed commissars, they will have the freedom to chickenhawk our children, right in school. We will be powerless to prevent it.

Exactly right, they're after our children and they recruit, the younger the better.

If this doesn't produce a backlash, if we can't rise up as a nation to defend our children from these perverts, then we don't deserve to exist as a free nation.

Very true. Imagine what homosexuals will do witht the recent 11th decision which upheld a prohibition of homosexual adoption.

Imagine if every mother or father who teaches their children that homosexuality is wrong, suddenly has a dutiful NEA teacher reporting them for teaching hate crimes. Imagine parents ordered to go to "sensitivity training" due to their personal matters of conscience.

Imagine homeschoolers attacked as child abusers based ONLY on what morality they teach their children. Imagine religions being declared hate crime only because they teach homosexuality is wrong.

Imagaine any science research for treatment of the homosexual fetich being prohibited as a matter of law.

Imagine homosexuals who can now bring in fiance's on visa's without problem, spouses without investigation. You could not deny Osama Bin Laddin a fiance visa or a spouse visa to get into the USA.

They want children. Homosexuality is all about maximizing available sex partners.

I know a way to end this homosexual marriage nonsense: make it a co-requisite that open-season be declared on all members of and (subscribers to) NAMBLA, that all molesters of prepubescent children are declared not legally human and unprotected by law, that all NAMBLA-esque internet stalkers can be legally castrated by the most painful means available, etc...
The homosexual agitators like to CLAIM they are not supporters of pedophilia, that they feel the same way about it as normal folks do... I say unto them: step up or step off.

How true! The gays have been gaining ground for years. Had we had any backbone, they probably wouldn't have had the nerve to get married, in the first place.

We are running out of time to do something about this.

It would have died out, if it was genetically based. But it's based mainly on seduction to perversion. Most homosexuals are made, not born. Most will admit that they "discovered" their "true gay identity" with the "help" of an older homosexual.

It would have died out, if it was genetically based.

Not necessarily.
Two alternative hypotheses:
1. homosexual code is recessive, does not become phenotypically evident unless the subject is homozygous recessive
2. phenotypically or behaviorally evident homosexuality is an expression dependent upon the presence and activity of multiple independent gene segments widely scattered across the 23 chromosome pairs

*corollary hypothesis: both 1 and 2 in conjunction

as of RIGHT NOW, there is no hard scientific evidence for or against a genetic causation or causative component in homosexuality.

I wonder how we got here in the first place. How did "sexual orientation" get in the discrimination description??

And that is the 64,000 dollar question. It all started basically with a plea for tolerance and grew into a movement.

One wrong decision by the courts and all future decisions afterwards will be based on that.

The issue is not, nor has it ever been one's "rights", but rather one's "liberty".

There is a difference.

actually there is more against.

Consider now that the human genome is mapped, why has it not been "found"? The genes for the six versions of breast cancer have been found. Various genetic defects have been found.

We even have the ability to treat certain genetic defects in the womb, before birth.

It has not been found and there has been no dollar push to find it becase it does not exist.

The push of homosexuals is to mandate "acceptance" so when it is found to be a choice, the homosexuals will have the PR ability to say morality has no voice on the subject.

"mapped" does not equate to "understood"

that ONE (or a small handfull of) human genomes has been mapped does not equate to "a statistically useful sample of human genomes have been mapped"

be patient - the science is extremely young. I expect definitive answers to this and many other questions inside the next 15 years or so.

The Homosexual Movement in Massachusetts Schools

On March 25, 2000 the Massachusetts Departments of Education and Health teamed up with the national gay and lesbian group GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network) and conducted a conference for school children and educators.  The conference was held under the guise of tolerance and safe schools.  However, as the Parent's Rights Coalition discovered, this conference was about teaching children the unsafe mechanics of homosexuality.  Following the conference, organizers denied claims of misconduct made by the Parent's Rights Coalition.  Organizers were forced to concede the truth after the Parent's Rights Coalition made public an audio recording from the conference, which substantiated their claims.  A free copy of the Parent's Rights Coalition audio tape can be obtained from the Massachusetts News web page.  Alternatively, if your computer is audio capable, then you may listen to the following 10 audio clips, in order, to hear the entire contents of the free audio tape.

A word of caution to parents:  These audio clips contain graphic sexual language and are not appropriate for children.  Note that these clips were created for the RealPlayer program.  If after clicking on the audio clips below you determine that the RealPlayer program in not on your system, you may be able to obtain a free copy of RealPlayer Basic under the Real home page located here.

If what you are saying comes true, it would really be the end of the government school system, and that would be a good thing.

The Law of Unintended Consequences.

And of course there would be other unintended consequences that would go rather badly for the fags and lesbos, IMO.
