A litmus test for our politicians and judges...

I recommend that we ask those running for an elected position the following question:
Do you agree with this statement, "We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness".
If the person does not agree with this, then we should fear that person would undermine our rights and the foundation of our Constitution because in their view rights are given to the citizens by the state. If rights are given by God, they cannot be taken away. If rights are given by the state, they can be easily removed by whomever is in power.

Indeed, this is what has been eating away at me. After reading Shawn Hannity's "Deliver Us From Evil" I am extremely concerned that the secularization of our society and government will cause us to lose the one thing that makes our democracy unique in the world. I am not aware of any other country who has recoginzed God as the grantor of basic human rights.

Considering what happened to Martha Stewart, absolutely! But then politicians and judges often tend to be above the law don't they.
