Lifestyle of the Richie and famous

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Lionel Richie's wife, who is seeking spousal support from the pop star as their divorce case proceeds, has told a Los Angeles judge that the couple regularly spent more than $300,000 a month.

Diane Richie, in a written declaration published on the Smoking Gun Web site (http://www.thesmokinggun.com), said her monthly expenses include $15,000 for clothing, shoes and accessories, $3,000 for "dermatology" and $1,000 for laser hair removal.

The 37-year-old mother of two, who filed for a divorce in January, said that each month she spends $600 on hair, $250 on nails, $150 on electrolysis, $450 on facials, $500 for her trainer and $600 each on Pilates, massages, and therapy.

The declaration is filed in connection with a request for spousal support from the 54-year-old singer. The amount that she is seeking is not clear from the court papers.

Diane Richie also lists yearly expenses of $20,000 for plastic surgery and $125,000 for tuition at her 9-year-old son's Colorado boarding school, which she says she tries to visit at least once a month -- at a cost of between $15,000 and $20,000.

She reports that despite the pending divorce she and her husband, who married in 1996, still live together in a Beverly Hills mansion she values at $40 million, staffed by nine people.

"(Lionel Richie) and I had an extraordinary extravagant lifestyle," Diane Richie, a former dancer, says in the declaration.

"(We) regularly spent in excess of $300,000 a month. We could comfortably afford to spend unlimited sums of money on everything and anything we chose. I had no limit on what I could spend."

Richie's hits include "Say You, Say Me," "Hello" and "Penny Lover."

With a previous wife he is the adoptive father of Nicole Richie, who starred alongside Paris Hilton in the Fox reality TV show "The Simple Life."

My guess is that Lionel Richie's wife is a hard core liberal and is totally against school choice and all for socialized medicine (expect, of course, for the rich elite)...

All right, I have to confess, this isn't my lifestyle. Can any Freepers out there who live like this tell me, What is a Pilate? Aside from Pontius Pilate, I mean? And why does it cost $600 a month?

"$125,000 for tuition at her 9-year-old son's Colorado boarding school, which she says she tries to visit at least once a month"

Wow! What a loving, caring mommy. It must be so hard to tear yourself away from shopping for shoes, having your mustache removed and undergoing plastic surgery long enough to go all the way to Colorado to visit your child. She must care deeply. /sarcasm

Pilate? I didn't know either. Google search produced this...."Pilates is a modern version of the ancient movements found in Yoga. From hundreds of poses, a man named Joseph Pilates created a basic system of 34 exercises "

There you have it. I learn something new every day.

Pilates is a form of strengthening exercise that focuses on the deep inner core muscles. It tends to lengthen the muscles, improving posture and can actually make a person taller. My wife does it at the YMCA along with all the other activities for about 50 bucks a month. It's named after the guy who "invented" this exercise.

What is a Pilate?

An old and now new agian weight loss program. Which is why she needs messages. She needs the therapy because the Pialtes and massages remind her how totally unacceptable she feels.

Pilates are low impact stretching and strength exercises that can be adjusted for disabilities and other problems. It mostly focuses on the legs, back, and tummy.

I got a really great 20 minute tape a Target for $17.00. Could have saved Lionel a wad of cash if he married me ;)
