STOP Worrying about who's chances are better!!! (that's how we got into this mess - ie. our "conservative" prez who spends like a drunken sailor, etc).
Vote for the BEST PERSON FOR THE JOB.

Kaloogian is the best on issues. Bill Jones probably has the best chance to actually beat Boxer, IMNHO.

I will likely vote for Marin.

I know alot of folks here rail against the immigration stance of President Bush and Rosario Marin. But don't forget that it was just this issue and Prop 187 that sent Wilson and the Republicans to the dustbin of Golden State politics for nearly a decade.

Marin is a fresh face with a compelling story. The Empowerment of a conservative latina would help us in the state and nationally.

Yes. Exactly. :)

The self-annointed far right will say whoever it up against Boxer is too liberal or has betrayed them come November and will stay home. Boxer will win.

Jones has the Bush unendorsement -> McCain endorsement and largest tax increase in state history around his neck. He's done with the GOP, imho.

Kaloogian is too acidic and reactionary as shown by his recall Lockyer scheme and debate tactics. He will be *easily* painted as "too extreme for California" like the milktoast Matt Fong. California doesn't like divise, angry representatives.

Of the remaining two contenders one is a former Democrat who donated to Bill Clinton among others and there's Rosario Marin.

Later, as she dined on quesadillas at El Gallo Gira, a sprawling Mexican cafeteria and bakery on Pacific Boulevard, the mayor said that "human nature" alone will motivate Huntington Park's immigrants to gradually loosen their ties to Mexico. They will follow the path of the German, Italian and eastern European immigrants who had crossed the Atlantic early this century, she added.

"People will learn to become good Americans, and they will move on," Ms. Marin said above a booming mariachi singer. "Huntington Park is just a springboard."1999 Dallas Morning News piece on Marin, Latinos and Huntington Park.

One weakness, she opposed outlawing bilingual education. That is an acceptable view to me in the sense that "people of good conscience can disagree." She is, however, firmly against Bush's immigration plan (on record on AM600 KOGO's Roger Hedgecock's candidate debate) and declared *MEXICO* and that government GUILTY for the flood of immigrants.

I sincerely hope if Marin (anyone, really) is the candidate all Republicans will work for her defeat of Boxer.

That's interesting. She supported it when she was on John and Ken's program (KFI 64.0) a few weeks ago. So she's a flip-flopper?

"I knew many decent and honorable people who supported McCain during the 2000 primary season."

I know there were many of them. However, most did not switch sides when they thought Bush would lose. That distinguishes Jones from the "decent and honorable people" you mention.

And one more thing, not only did she support the guest worker program, but she was really weasely about it. John and Ken had to practically beat the admission out of her, she was tap-dancing, hemming, and hawing so much. I don't know what's worse, supporting it or not having the courage of your convictions to simply admit it in the first place.

On the issues, Kaloogian is the clear choice here. On taking on Boxer, Kaloogian will be the one with the stones to deal with the Boxer smear machine...Jones is too nice or comes across as too rigid, Marin and Casey are Boxer Jrs. and people will vote for the real pro-abort woman over Democrat-lite.

And for what it's worth, the latest primary numbers according to the LaLaTimes...

If polls are correct, you might as well vote your conscience as Jones appears to be the nominee regardless.

Care to comment, Joe?

California doesn't like divise, angry representatives.

Sure it does. California elected Barbara Boxer twice now.

Or do you mean that divisiveness is a trait that only conservatives can have?

You mean who would be better for the job don't you? I can't stand this whole vote for who we think will win crap anymore.

Certain Freepers always chide their conservative bretheren to vote their conscious during the primaries, and their party during the general election.

According to them, NOW is the time to vote with your heart. Lessee what each of us truly believe.

Bruce lost to her in 1992 when it was Alan Cranstan's open seat. And he lost because he was a fiery conservative commentator who visited strip clubs.

The "visited strip clubs" accusation, was in fact a last minute smear. It was refuted later, but too late to salvage the election.

They tried the same trick on Arnold but it didn't work.

Who is the poster referring to? What group does he believe supported tax paid support of illegal aliens? Every citizen I knew of supported 187, regardless of race.

Of course he may be referring to the dirty racist Art Torres who stated in 95 that: [Proposition] 187 was the last gasp of white America in California."

There are also reports surfacing that Art Torres is a bi-sexual, child molestor. But this is only second hand information. I only know him to be a hateful racist.

I actually think that all candidates have good qualities. However outside of Jones with his well known name and Kaloogian with his now known recall fame the other two are too much not known and against a biggie like Boxer I cant see them winning...

i like Kaloogians grass roots kinda style. It does get people on their toes. However I would say go with whom Arnold will support. In the last two weeks Arnolds drive to get his bonds has turned dramatically in his favor in the polls. And there was a new poll today regarding his popularity at it is swelling...

Arnold is our only chance to get the voters to oust BOXER......!
