I'm certain KKK white guys would have been blamed if only they had been around. How "inconvenient" for the left. The Bible is pretty clear than mankind killed his son, Jesus. There's enough blame to go around.

Shas chairman MK Eli Yishai on Wednesday called for Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" movie to be banned from Israeli cinemas,.......

Amen!

Good moral judgement!

Gibson's out-of-context textual humanist/gnostic/mystic film is violently 'pornographic'?...!!

Have some 'respect'...!!!

Amen, Shas!!

It would almost appear the religious mullahs arent confined to Islam

No one gets converted against his or her will in Christianity...

Seeing a movie...will not suddenly or magically turn a Jew into a Christian...

What happend to freedom in Israel?...freedom of relgion? freedom of expression? freedom to see other viewpoints? freedom of open discussion?

There is nothing to fear here...It's just a movie...

Of course no one can stop the power of the Holy Spirit to convict one of one's sins
and to bring a soul to repentance and forgiveness
and a relationship with Christ the Savior...If God is of a mind to save you ...you cannot stop Him

The thing to fear is not having a relationship with Messiah..

Or anyone who wishes to stand in the way of that happening...

IMO

As a good Jewish freeper recently stated on this site, there are many Jews in this world, and a good number of them are secular and have no real religious belief one way or the other. They hate people of religion and worship of our Lord. Mr. Gibson's "Passion" film is no threat whatsoever against the Jews. Every Christian knows that all humanity brought death to Jesus! Believe me, most Christians will put their lives on the line to protect the State of Israel. These morons that are complaining about this film want to destroy Mel Gibson and the film, because they cannot stand people of faith, even other Jews! Just look how they left Joe Lieberman high and dry for the idiots that call themselves Democrats! Why, because he is religious and is a military hawk when it comes to defending the USA! Fact is, they are only fueling the desire for the public to "take-a-look". This film will be great acheivement and success for Mel Gibson and all humanity! Mel Gibson and his film will do no harm to Jews. If harm comes to Jews, it will come from their own words, by their own hand and actions, whether it is ranting against "Passion" or supporting the "traitor" Democrat Party that, upon election, will embolden and abet the enemies of the USA and Israel to commence unrestricted "open season" murder on Americans and Jews!

"...Joshua ("Jesus" is Aramaic for Joshua) was a Jew. All of his friends, everyone he really ever knew were Jews."

Exactly

"He was executed by Roman military occupation forces."

At the request of the Jews.

It was a jewish tradition to be able to choose.
The Jews chose Barabas over Jesus.

Since Mel payed for this movie out of his own pocket, and since he's going to be recouping his investment 10 times over, I'm fully expecting him to eventually put this movie on the web, streaming 24 hours a day.

Banning this movie because of a "blood libel" is silly. Many Pharisees are shown to be sympathetic to Jesus. Only Caiaphas is relentlessly malevolent. However, if they want to prevent conversions, they'd be right to ban the movie.

In the U.S., the Anti-Defamation League issued a statement saying that the film "repeats all of the stereotypes and myths surrounding the death of Jesus that have accompanied anti-Semitism for the last 2,000 years.

Ironically enough, this sounds itself like a blood libel.

The divine irony here is that the human beings involved happened to be israeli, not jewish. They subborned the Roman government in a conspiracy to kill one of their own prophets and wish to act as though they are not responsible for doing so. But it was Human nature, not the fact of their religious label. Israel had killed prophets before, it just happens that this one was their messiah. And it just happens that if they had not killed him, this would all be elementary. Irony is always interesting if not overtly fun - just as spiritual blindness is as useful as it is sad to both sides. As scripture points out, Jesus spoke in parables to keep the enemy ignorant of God's plan. Satan didn't know what was happening till it was too late. If these idiots weren't too wrapped up in their own spiritually blind self martyrdome complexes, they'd realize that we owe them a debt of gratitude for fullfilling prophecy. Evil runs when no one follows. One wonders why they are screaming a defense when no one is accusing. self martyrdome isn't pretty - nor is it particularly intelligent looking.. They need to wake up, shut up, and understand it's humanity that was to fault. Gibson isn't playing the role of accuser.

Many comments on what Torah is..what the Bible is.

One point to address right off..is both are *Redactl.

That means people have had their hands on the last script conveyence..and..

This can be a traumatic theme to the Christian...
"What..the word of God does not change"... Well..yes it does : )

remember..Judaism came before...and before their was a written record..their was an oral record..of *One omnipotent all present Creator.

The Legacy that is Judaism has never been a traumatic thing when exact perfect retention ident of all letters spelled in a script which conveys rememberence of the Light of Life is weighed.

The Jew has allways understood the the Creator is with him/her...and so too...Salavation if you need that ident.

Thats right..The Jew has Salvation allready..it came with *relationship.
no need to work anything to get.

The Jew has prayed for millenia and understood when he/she lifts their voice to the One Creator...

"Ki bayom haze y'chaper aleichem" ..."For on That Day...you shall be forgiven of all your sins" it happens more on Shabbat..but with the one who is free before their Creator..and not day/duty religious....they understanding is clear.

"I am..because you are"..
I AM encompases everything..

The Jew is whole...not needing to go get *Fixed when meeting their Creator.

The Ruach Ha Kodesh...Christians call this the Holy Spirit.

The Jew knows the unseen ones Glory strides with them each day...for the understanding was conveyed thru Avraham..who the Ancient of Days called.."My Freind".

The many Jewish commentaries ..the Zohar even.

The Jew has been dilligent to return the favor of relationship...
the design is to teach/instruct...and then let go.
the learner journeys...
The Ancient of Days is with them on that journey.

*There is no rejection.

>New York Cardinal Edward Egan, meanwhile, wrote to parishes to stress Jews were not responsible for the crucifixion of Jesus.

>"He gave His Life for us," Egan wrote in a column to appear in next month's issue of Catholic New York. "No one took it from Him. This is, and has always been, Catholic doctrine.

This exact quote was in the movie spoken by Jesus to counter any chance someone get the concept of corporate blame from the film.

There is a good reason to ban it in Israel. The Passion is a very direct and powerful presentation of the Gospel. It presents Jesus as savior, unambigiously. It links the prophesy in Isaiah to, Jesus' suffering, and that to the Last Supper.

My Review of The Passion

I saw it 1 pm Wednesday. Sellout, it was opening on 4 screens in that theater. Barely got a good seat and I arrived 1/2 hr early.

The movie is MUCH better than anyone can imagine. It's powerful artistic vision was beautifully and yet horribly filmed. The character of Satan was very unique in how the movie showed his evil influence on people and events and how he is defeated in the end.

THERE IS NO ANTISEMITISM IN THIS FILM. It contains specific quotes during the crucifixion spoken by Jesus in flashback sequences to counter any chance someone might get the idea of corporate blame from the film.

The film DOES NOT in any way blame Jews or cause the view to feel anger toward the Jews.

The movie is totally mind blowing. It shows probably the most Jewish disciples ever. Jesus and his followers are shown as specifically and fully Jewish and you feel like you are really there and not in some sort of religious re-creation. You experience the heat, dust sweat, rain, dirt and bugs.

The normal religious and devotional modes normally found in a Jesus film are totaly absent from The Passion, making it very effective.

The movie clearly present Jesus as savior which is why people are so mad at it. Starting from the Isaiah prophency, to his words at the Last Supper, to the events of the crucifixion, the Gospel is CLEARLY and DIRECTLY presented in the film.

DO NOT TAKE KIDS TO THIS MOVIE. Yes people do cry during the movie. Don't eat before you go. You won't feel like doing anything for a few hours after as well.

Saying that, I fully encourage everyone else to see it. Its incredible. (Don't stop at Return of the King, check out the real King ROTK was pointing to.)

These folks need a reference check...it's call the Holy Bible.

(Note to liberals and Jews...Mel didn't write this movie as a work of fiction...he's just acting out what has been written for a couple of thousand years.)
