I'm wondering though, which offends Morford more: The Christianity or that people are making money off of it.Yes.

If you're figuring that he's "only" as bad as, say, Maureen Dowd, you're highly overestimating him.I think you meant underestimating...

The nail thing reminded me of the most poor-taste piece of marketing I've seen for a while - at the Six States Fair in Massachusetts, 2002, a jewelrry firm from New York were selling (I think it was) bracelets "made from Sterling Silver taken from the World Trade Center site."
I quickly walked away lest I barf on their counter. I didn't lose anyone close to me in the WTC attacks, but that's not the point. I found the gesture tasteless. Same with the nail pendants. I'm not an especially devout Christian, but my first response to reading that was "ewww"...

You mean that I should use the word "underestimate" to indicate that he's -worse- than he's being presented...?
Depends on how you look at it, frankly. The way I look at it, see, I can't indicate Morford is actually "over" anything. He's lower than sewer pipes. He's the scum that scum scrapes off the bottom of it's shoes. It's impossible to -under-estimate Morford, the only thing you could do is overestimate him.

I'm not a Christian at all, but I have to respectfully disagree about the nail - the marketing may well be tasteless, but the nail itself is not; like the cross, it is a reminder of Christ's sacrifice, an instrument of torture into an instrument of redemption.
The WTC jewelry, though, is indeed abominable.

Then again, my first response to reading the entire article was "ewww".
And on re-reading post 63, ewww at misspelling jewellry. Particularly with the tagline I was using.

Yep I missed it. I just couldn't stomach the whole article and figured if Missy Morford hadn't slamed Bush within the first half she wasn't going to.
Live and learn.

Agreed. I should have made myself clearer. It's the marketing of the nail I have problems with, not the item itself...

I couldn't believe that, myself. I lived in Connecticut at the time and knew (or knew of) so many people who had been traumatised by those attacks, some (EMTs on the spot that day) to the point of suicide... and here was a New York company proudly displaying these so-called "relics", less than a year after the towers fell. I felt like screaming at the salesman, and worse. Instead I just said to my husband, "Get me out of here."

Some people aren't worth the rope it'd take to hang 'em.

Hey, if Morford doesn't like it he can do what he always sanctimoneously tells the rest of us to do when something
he likes comes along which we recoil in horror from - don't go see it or use the OFF button!
I wouldn't want to be in Morford's sandals when he meets the Lord at His judgment.

OK, one nice thing about Mark Morford: He's more of a woman than Maureen Dowd will ever be! And he's twice the man she'll ever get.

Based upon what all my friends who are devout Christians have said, your reaction to the nail pendant is spot on.
Hollyweird's crassness comes to the top again. I'd be curious as to whether Gibson dreamed this one up or some schlockmeister salesman from Singapore.

It's a Catholic thing.
I wear a nail pin with a purple ribbon on it for lent.
In fact, I have to get it out to put on my coat because today is Ash Wednesday.
A friend's church was handing them out for Lent and she gave it to me. It reminds me of the sacrifice He made for me.

Nothing will anger this guy more than huge box office receipts. Go see the movie. Then go again and take everyone you know. I am.

See, I think Glades (although I can't speak for this poster) and I come from the Protestant branch of Christianity... which has often seen certain aspects of Catholicism in poor taste.
I don't want to get into a religious argument here, as I've already admitted to being just a nominal Christian (baptised Episcopalian, or as we in Australia know them, Chruch of England, in case anyone wants to know)... but there are some things I find beyond the pale, and the marketing and selling of nails as pendants is one of them.
I know Jesus suffered for my sins, but do I really have to wear a nail around my neck to acknowledge that? My answer is no, I do not, any more than I have to wear a bracelet supposedly made of silver retrieved from the WTC site to honour the victims of 9/11.

The Devil will have a lot of fun with Ms. Morford. Morford will get all the sex he wants - but it will have to be with a woman! Oh the horror for Morford!
